Inspiron Mini 13 now listed on Dell Canada website
Dell might have axed the Mini 12, but it seems like there's quite a few models waiting to fill the void -- we just saw the Inspiron 11z go on sale this morning, and now there's a mysterious link for an "Inspiron Mini 13" showing up on the Dell Canada site. We're assuming that means the hot new Inspiron 13 that launched in Singapore last month is about to make its North American debut with Mini branding -- and although calling a 13-inch machine with a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo and ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330 graphics a "Mini" seems a little odd, we can't say we'd be surprised if it came to pass. We're digging for more, keep a sharp eye.

First?
Woot!
I'd like to see the pricing on this baby!
there is pricing, instead of being first click on the picture and check DELL Canada site
You just said the "F" word!
Those are really good specs. If it's a mini series, it won't be too expensive. (I'll guess $800)
Oh, look click the "read" button.
It starts at $700.
The price isn't mini.
I think I'd prefer this over the xps 13. This is slightly thinner and the price should be MUCH better with similar specs. ati 4330 matches the 9400m.
This sounds like it could be the tiny notebook I finally dive into. Been waiting for a 330/Ion combo for way, way too long...
I have 13'' Gateway (or better say ACER) - got it 4 months ago. Totally agree 13'' is perfect size. One thing I wanted and this dell has as well was internal CD drive (I get all my audio books on CDs)
Even a 330 is slow as shit, C2D FTW!
330 is a nettop processor. Always will be. I think Intel is still assuming people who want netbooks just want to do basic stuff on them. Really, I've replaced my laptop with my netbook, the only thing it doesn't do is HD/flash video/gaming.
"Always will be."
It is currently in some netbooks not available in America.
WOW expensive. $600 for base model, no thanks. Where is Lenovo with ION. Im really starting to think the industry is screwing customers over with the continued release of ATOM and SHIT GFX netbooks. Just relase the ION so we can scrap this whole idea of low power usage and shitty GFX.
dude, $600 canadian = $540 US ... that's not bad price for 13'' with DVD burner at all
A machine with options like "a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo and ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330" usually base around $600
took to long for nvidia to put out the ion. the ati 4330 beats it and seems like this will be the default dedicated low power graphic solution from now on instead of intel's 4500mhd
That sounds great to me. I'm so sick of them slapping Intel lackluster integrated graphics in these things.
Crap CPU + Meh GPU = ?
Actually, that's always been my thought too, until I read this article over at ars: http://arstechnica.com/hardware/news/2009/08/samsung-n510-599-ion-seems-all-but-doomed-on-lofty-pricing.ars
Thats 600 canadian, which might end up around 500 Merican.
This might be a better deal than a Timeline or a U350.
le petit minou!!!!!
It has disappeared..
hoping a UK release is not too far away!
4.9lbs is too heavy for a 13 incher. My 14.1 Core Duo Inspiron from 3.5 years ago barely weighs more. That said, for people not looking for ultraportability, this is probably the best deal on the market.
One thing to keep in mind is battery life. A machine with a discrete graphics card and a full blown Core 2 Duo processor is going to be power hungry. Dell has never been the best with battery life to begin with.
There no backlit keyboard option otherwise I'd be interested.
That isn't the Mini 13, the that's the Inspiron 13 which is a different notebook that's been around for a while. It looks like the Mini 13 isn't on the site yet.
what is mini about a Inspiron13?
I agree, it's bad branding for this model.
But the fact remains, this looks like a pretty sweet little laptop.
I'm still holding out for the mini 17.
Comment of the day.
I went to Dell's Canadian and US website and I don't see ATI graphics anywhere, its all Intel 3100.
