gross. the dimensions are horrible
To each their own.
But yeah, I'd have to agree with you. I think my hands are too big for those dimensions. Handling it would definently be akward.
I agree.. it reminds me a TV remote control
@ Cahilto
You must get that a lot.
Long and narrow. Will test in the shop, just for fun. Won't buy, 99.9%.
i already carry around something narrow and about 4 inches long in my pants. this could cause confusion.
ìt´s not lenghts that matters, it´s the size
what is that screen because it looks close to true cinema 21:9 format? when he played that video there was a sizable space on the sides
I will get this the moment it hits Korean retail....
UI too small and lot of lag :(
you call that a lag? I thought it was pretty decent actually. My iphone isn't that snappy.
must be a fanboi
No, he's not being a "fanboi". There definitely was a lot of choppiness visible here when pinch-zooming in the web browser, and scrolling in the gallery. The 3GS is much snappier.
I'm still giving LG major kudos here, though... it's a pretty slick UI, and I love those angled icons.
dude, the first gen iphone is faster than that, and snappier with the zooming in the web browser. What really gets me, though, is the 3D cube-like menu. It takes waaayyyyyy too long to flip between home screens. Why would you implement an interface like that if the processor can't handle it? These phones continue to blow my mind, in a bad way. That 3D menu interface is NOTHING if it doesn't run smooth... instead, it takes like a full second to flip to the next home screen. Even the phones on the market with the best processors have flat interfaces, the Pre and 3GaSpeed, and they got it right because responsiveness of the UI should come FIRST. It's a neat effect, but that wouldn't even take time to get annoying, like all of the complaints I have with my iphone.
I just don't understand how QA could sit around with test units going "oh yeah, that's nice. That's really cool. People will like that." Did it not occur to them that it's annoying as hell to wait that long to get to a different menu screen? It's like the Hero... QA sat around for 5 minutes while a Flash video loaded on their test units... and when it played at 0.25 frames per second, they just started screaming "SHIP IT! WE HAVE A PRODUCT!! PEOPLE WILL BUY IT BECAUSE IT RUNS FLASH!!!!"
I was pretty interested in this phone until I saw that massive lag. Rage over.
is it ahead of iPhone 3GS nano ?
Looks Interesting!
Wow, gotta love that resistive screen. Swipe, then wait for the reaction. Tap, wait, tap HARDER! There you go, see
You really don't have ANY clue what "resistve touchscreen" actually means, do you?
L's right. A capacitive can have the same lag if the underpinning are just as slow!
A rule of thumb: when you quote someone, please remember to quote correctly...
The guy says its capacitive not resistive--since he talks about how you barely have to press the screen and it is very responsive.
It is capacitive. Did you even watch the video?
Clearly being a geezer has affected your hearing sir.
I am at work so no volume - just watched the video. It *does* look resistive though which is a FAIL on LG's part.
its capacitive. period. get a life.
It's capacitive.
Resistive touchscreens don't support multitouch, and the guy demonstrated the pinch-to-zoom feature.
Wikipedia much?
@L: It "resists" doing what you tell it to do? :D
*rimshot*
I think the FAIL here is clearly on your part! Whether it's a volume fail or a brain fail, well, we'll never know!
browsing seems nice on this thing. too bad we didn't get to see the on-screen keyboard.
the whole time i wanted to shout FOCUS!!!
Me, too! This was like the blurrycam review of this thing. From what I can see, the phone looks...well...fuzzy.
+1
God damnit yes!
actually the whole thing was a YouTube HD fail.
+1, can't really tell how clear it is if it's out of focus. If I wanted to be a conspiracy theroist I would say it was all to insure we don't see how "blah" the resolution is in real life. But I'm not so I won't.
Looks like the cpu is slow in this thing.
I agree. Looks like the pre-loaded video was lagging like crazy towards the end. Or was that due to my sucky old macbook with sucky intel integrated graphics and sucky youtube?
I'm really interested in the phone, but overall it doesn't look very responsive at all. In my opinion, a touchscreen that makes you wait, be it resistive or capacitive is useless. I'd rather have buttons that react instantly than a slow touchscreen... But I'm picky, and I know that.
It's length x width x height. Never design a phone's width on a Friday near closing time.
Its totally something else then the most phone's released to date. The 21:9 display and the weird long size of this thing. Overall it looks not finished.
If you believe this is what Verizon is getting and that it'll be out Sunday, I think you're headed for disappointment.
Video playback seems like a slide-show. I hope that's just a pre-release problem.
It looks...intriguing. Need to see it in real life.
Anyway, where are our futuristic bezel-less all-screen devices? That would be a real head-turner, and probably doable it the companies only wanted too....
This page is lousy with haters. Don't know where the dislike for this phone comes from, but it looks great to me.
So were haters because we have a issue with some things on this phone? Well, excuse me, mister president.
It looks like it operates quick and responsive, What really annoyed was how quiet the guy was. Over on Mobilecrunch I think it is they comment and give personal feedback as there using the device making watching abit more interesting and informative this guy annoys me.
I like this phone, it's alittle long but still looks awesome.
Does anybody know if it has a digital compass?
Seriously?
Yep. It seems to be the thing nowadays. I really like the applications that small component has already brought - in addition to just rotating the maps when you use GPS. Haven't you heard?
Wow it looks laggy as hell, I can imagine getting very frustrated trying to use this phone.
Well, first off I will say, I think the phone looks quite stunning actually, it's a black monolith that would make Kubrick proud. That said, the UI looks a bit piss on this thing. Why do companies think it's a good idea to make a huge screen on a touchscreen phone and then make these apps that can be resized to unusable proportions. It's just silly and poorly thought out. I could almost understand if the phone was aimed at high end multitasking phone ninja clients... but it isn't, it's aimed at chicks who want a neat looking touchscreen phone and are on verizon (more than likely). I agree it does look fairly slow, but if anything it may be much to early to judge. My nokia 5800 was slow when I first got it but 6 months later absolutely flew through most screens. Please no Nokia comments, I have a 3GS now and don't feel like fighting. Still, this phone could be a hit, just needs slightly more polish, ok battery life, and a low intro price (think $99). Might have to get it for my girlfriend when her upgrade period comes around.
I'll give it to your girlfriend when her period comes around...
