Gateway's 11.6-inch EC1803h CULV ultraportable surfaces in Canada
All the cool kids are building CULV-powered 11.6-inch miniature wonders, and Acer-owned Gateway is no exception. This new EC1803h unit (a rebadge of sorts of Acer's Timeline 1810T) just popped up in Canada, and has a lot in common with Gateway's LT2000 netbooks -- though somehow knowing there's a "real" processor underneath makes it seem just a bit more sexy. Unfortunately, the $600 Canadian (about $550 US) pricetag isn't quite as grand as the $400ish CULV laptops that Acer and Dell have been showing, but it's hard to fault the 3GB of RAM, 6 cell standard battery and 250GB hard drive. No word on when this will head to the States.

They have one of these bad boys at the Morgantown, WV Best Buy.
I like the hinges. a lot.
no one cares about gateway.
don't even waste your time with it
if yours has a problem, they don't only have the worst worrenty ever, but they also have the rudest costumer service
and let me tell you something, my gateway laptop is broken, my friend's was also broken, and the desktop my other friend got was also fucked.
don't even bother.
I knew its kinda old news, but wanna to tell that I got it for 499cad actually at Futureshop(not on sale I believe)and it dose have a HDMI output, this is probably the best netbook in current market.
FYI: I am posting this comment via Firefox browser on one of these units while running Adobe Photoshop CS4 & Dreamweaver CS4, plus Winamp playing music, with a text file open, and an open folder in the Taskbar. PLUS, I am downloading using mTorrent, I have Dropbox installed and in my notification bar, PC Tools Firewall running, Windows Live Messenger also running, AVG AntiVirus, and Google Desktop! All going at the same time and the response in each program is snappy! This machine is worth every penny of its $500 CDN price! I am amazed. 'Nuff said.
I remember seeing this for $600 at Future Shop some time ago. It's $450 after a $50 off right now, so I'm grabbing it. I'll have two weeks to decide whether or not to keep it.
How's the touchpad on this thing? Anyone try replacing the keyboard with a US layout one from ebay?
Well, this sucks.
After that $50 off sale went out, the laptop shortly became $450 without a sale... But now it's not on Future Shop or Best Buy websites at all.
I already bought one, but now I wanted another since they're so cool...
Maybe they're replacing it with another model that has Windows 7 installed by default? Sure hope so.
P.S. Replacing the keyboard on this to US layout is as easy as grabbing a keyboard for the 11.6" Acer Aspire 751H from eBay, since they're exactly the same.
