Nokia Booklet 3G is really real, as seen on camera
Not that we thought it was a fabrication this morning, but Reuters has managed to snap a few pictures of the Nokia Booklet 3G "mini laptop" to assure us that there is indeed at least one physical unit in existence, located at the company's Helsinki headquarters. As seen in another photo, the model sports the blue lid, and just so you're absolutely clear how a 10.1-inch netbook sizes up to an actual phone, we've got a side-by-side with an E71. Looks like we'll have to wait until Nokia World to figure out what Intel Atom processor they've got inside that makes sense to pair with a HDMI output, however.
Update: Nokia might be mum on the issue, but Intel tells Pocket-lint that it's got the 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 chipset, which isn't exactly known for its HD video prowess but can technically do up to 720p. No word on any other technology that make the HDMI port more logical, but if there is was, it's probably not coming from NVIDIA or Broadcom -- both companies have denied involvement with the Booklet.

Why not? For too long now Acer, Asus and MSI have been rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. If they price this right (and I'm talking $399-$499) and it's ION based then they could be onto a winner.
Nice analogy...
The price is €399. Confirmed on Mobile Review.
I'll wait for the NOKLA version...
I was just waiting for win 7 to hit the stores to exchange my (pimped up) MSI Wind with an orange (or maybe tourquoise?) Samsung N310 , but this thing , if it does what's supposed to do,and the price will be competitive with that of the N310, may well change my shopping plans .
Actually it looks like quite a few of my hard earned euros are gonna end up in Espoo's neighborhood , in fact I recently decided that as soon as the Rover tablet-phone makes it across the Baltic to the shores of my frigid country I'm going to ditch my new N97 (which I now managed to salvage) and get one of those too.
It's almost scary how fickle we gizmo compulsive buyers can be: for the first couple of weeks I had got the N97, I passionately hated Nokia and all it stood for, and I repeatedly promised that I would'nt buy anything more from them no matter what tricks they would try to employ to seduce me once more ; now however, after all the new updates, the new ROMs, the new themes, apps, programs, and specially after hours of heavy decrappying; memory swaps, twists and tweaks ; managed to turn Nokia's flagship into the glorious piece of electronic engineering that should have been from day one, all my bitteness towards Espoo has quickly evaporated and I'm again ready to give them my euros as soon as they will show me their shiny new toys.
Or maybe I 'll get the N310 anyway...I'll have to see it before deciding; the Rover ayway is not in doubt in any case.
Unless...
Suzuki made notebook, now Nokia.
Anyone can go to Shenzen with specs of what features they need and stamp whatever company logo the buyer wants on the notebook.
Hopefully there will be no engadget notebook :)
Nokia used to make PCs in the 80s, until they sold the product lines to Fujitsu Siemens. Sop its not quite like Suzuki making PCs.
According to Crave, it's a z530.

Wrong. Nokia HQ is in Espoo, not Helsinki. I can see it from my house.

thats nothin I live in Alaska and i can see Russia from my house..
Your thighs are strong, like Russian bear.
Fair enough. On a clear day I can see across the Gulf to Estonia. Can you see Cupertino/Redmond from Alaska? :P
i can see the house in front of me from my house
I cant see Cupertino Steve hasnt fixed the screen Glare yet :(
I can see the moon from where I live.
SaWeeet!! It has everything i need.
I looked at the picture first, and the title to me read Nokla Booklet :)
I'm sorry, but, that is an ugly netbook.
Aren't all netbooks ugly for you Apple fanboys?
Respond to my comment, not my username. If your mind is too simple to even do that, keep your mouth shut.
Thanks!
What netbooks do you find attractive in design then?

@iLA
Really? I own an nc-10, and I think they're pretty ugly.
The work surface on this thing isn't real pretty however.
To iLoveApple,
I just cant help but think that you don't get much sex... especially now that the 3.5" Floopy Drive is near non-existent.
I think they are about equal dude. The keyboard looks wayyyy better on this one, but I like the black and red design of the one you linked to.
You got down ranked because of your name though. You can't have an Apple loving handle and put something else down on this site. That automatically makes you a troll. Learn 2 Engadget dude XD
Why did they take a nice material that differentiates themselves from other netbooks and then go an make the whole thing look cheap and ugly?
I JUST WANT A GOD DAMN TRACKPOINT ALREADY!
track ball FTW!
Well, not really surprised Nokia didn't include one. I'm still really ticked off that Lenovo hasn't made a netbook with the thinkpad trackpoint yet.
What is real? How do you define real?
Is it what you can see, or smell, or touch?
Compared to other leading netbooks on the market...this one is really ugly...it doesn't even look like a nokia...
The inside doesn't look all that bad, but whatsup with the outer shell design? It looks horrible.
wouldn't touch it
It is rumored to be having 120GB hard-drive accd. to nokiamobiletalk.com
FINALLY, a netbook with a decent touchpad
i just wanna know what's in there that can play 720p and still allow 12 hours of battery life if it's not tegra
It's the usual Standby time trick.
If you leave the computer on and never touch it, get offline, with lowerest LCD brightness
you get 12 hours.
Play HD will however lower the time to like...
2 hours.
Could be a GMA500, like the Vaio P. That can accelerate HD even with a 1.33ghz
Yeah, it's quite surely got the GMA 500 (= PowerVR SGX) like most other machines with Z-series Atoms. And yeah, it enables both HD video playback and the HDMI.
HDMI, 12 hours, 2.7lbs, etc. The collection of numbers and acronyms look nice but only test/benchmark results on the real thing matter. That being said, even if real battery life turns out to be "only" 8 hours, this little puppy would still fulfill its "all day mobility" promise. Quite exciting product.
Design:
This looks more like a business netbook to me.
Internals:
Until benchmarks done, I'll believe it can do all they say it can do.
Nokia has got into the compulsive dirty habit of skimping on processing power.. be it the N97 or be it the Booklet 3G
Atom Z530+GMA500 accelerating HD 720p is gonna be like ARM11 434+128 MB running S60v5 on the N97.. C'mon Nokia show some Ion love to your netbook :)
A digital video out like HDMI (or display port, mini DVI whatever) is always logical in this millennium, no matter if HD video capable or not. People just want bit-stable, non-blurry, jitter-free images on their external display screens when connecting a mobile device to a regular display at home, work, presentation etc.
http://rene.rebe.name/2009-08-16/my-quest-for-a-usable-ntbk-continues/
Forgot to mention: HDMI certainly saves a few parts of an inch of the thickness, ...
It will have the Intel GMA 500 (Poulsbo) if its the z5x0 series as it has the graphics chip on board.
Heres more info on it.........
