Wacom's nextbeat NXT-1000 hits the Japanese and European club scenes in September
We're willing to bet Wacom's nextbeat NXT-1000 would feel right at home in a mockup spacecraft console (think Starfleet, not NASA), but more importantly, if you're one of those "creative DJs" who simply must employ this alongside the rest of your audio equipment, it's gearing up to put moves on you the likes of which have never been seen before. Launch dates are September 18th in Japan for 169,800 ($1,796) and September 25th for Europe, price probably comparable. No word on US release, but surely our Puritan heritage won't discount us from joining the party eventually.

B-B-But what about Bush's awesome Texan dance parties?!
Oh, The HORROR!
@ Shyam D
I believe you mean 'the TERROR.'
Whatever that thing is it looks cool as hell doing it.
hey who do I email on engadget for breaking news? I have some for next weeks xbox 360 price cut.
underneath the seach bar on the top right hand corner of the site is ays "tip us on news!"
I'll just wait for Sept. 17th when Pioneer announces the CDJ-1000 mk4
I know right, Wacom? and DJing?
Are you sure that Pioneer will be releasing the CDJ-1000 mk4 that day? Those "Dawn of a new species" viral videos that Pioneer are posting almost seem to describe something that sounds not unlike the device in this article...
This is a use of the word discount I do not understand. I've only heard of discounting prices and possibilities. How can you discount "us"?
discount, verb: ignore, treat as insignificant.

skyblaze can't sleep (2 in the morning over here) what up east half of the world (and fellow americans who cant sleep)?
relevance: 1,796 is quite an investment... whoever gets this better be good at what they do...

I'm buying Two robots and a couple of these and make my own band.

Mr. Nilay "if it's not Serato, it's sacrilege" Patel is going to flip when he sees this.
I wouldn't mind putting it up against my SCS.1 rig, but at a glance, I suspect it's more show than go.
Being a Wacom tablet user for years, I had no idea they made musical equipment.
think they'll give us, the loyal tablet users, a discount on this? hehe
you know i'd actually totally forgotten that wacom made dj equipment, but I still don't know how that demographic has responded to this.
Makes me want to become a DJ.
me too! and then i saw the price tag :(
DJ people, im thinking of getting the Hercules DJ control steel. is the $250 price tag worth it? i thought $250 was worth it till i saw this wacom for $2000! wow
.....no
I seem to have trouble replying to your post...
Trance duo Blank & Jones named the Hercules DJ Control RMX as their Top Gadget of 2008 (you can find it in their mini interview in the DJ Mag Top 100 2008 results; they're #61)... I'd recommend just forking out the extra fifty or so bones for that rather than the Steel if you decide to go the laptop route. :)
Either that, or wait til September the 17th to see whatever it is that Pioneer seems to be teasing...
Touch(sceen) controllers for dj'ing?
No thanks, the interface doesn't feel responsive enough! (So far.. unless it's a Jazzmutant)
I'm curious to see how this unit will perform.
