Nokia Booklet 3G gets its very own promo video
You know what would be nice? If Nokia's Booklet 3G actually made us feel as uplifted and inspired as the music in this fancy new promo video does. And why is it shown running Windows 7 Media Center, which will likely tax the 1.6GHz Atom Z530 and presumably integrated graphics beyond usability, but there aren't any shots of the Ovi apps in action? Aren't they the reason we're supposed to get all excited about paying a huge markup for this thing? And -- will using it make our hands look like that? We found only questions in the video beyond the break, but we're sure some of you have answers.

And also 1280x720 display -- the "cookie-cutter" spec dictates a 1024x600 resolution for 9" or 10" screens.
Yes but why can't engadget "journalists" stay professional and not write stupid sarcastic jokes to just make fanboys happy and try to disregard things that are actually good and interesting? Im not saying that they should stop criticizing, but some of the other tech blogs do that way more profesionally than engadget.
netbooks have been out for a year now. i wouldve liked more than 1gb of ram. just saying.
oh ya and this video blows. the first one from like 2 weeks ago was way better
engadget really is bias towards anything that competes with apple and google, i mean look at their blogs it's right there on front of your face it's hideous! Nokia will do fine coming out with competitive phones and keep their Nr 1 spot in the smart phone segment. Although I do agree that Nokia has fallen asleep for a couple years at the wheel, they are waking up slowly and we will all benefit as consumers because they do bring some of the best gadgets to the market. I love the netbook they brought out, it really is the best featured netbook money can buy right now no doubt. Once they fix their User Interface on their smart phones within the next couple quarters you will see them flourish because they always deliver the most complete products out there, they are just not as user friendly as apple's products no question but they are getting it and it's getting exciting I can already see competitors sweat because no one can really compete with Nokia in making phones.
Right now we are watching the awakening of the sleeping bear in the smart phone industry, watch out!
What the hell is up with those light blue nails? Ugh...
Hardware wise the Booklet 3G is very much the kind of product that Apple could/should have brought to the market. Of course they would have added some extra mumbo jumbo in the specs and shipped it with some revolutionary version of their operating system, but still.
Guys who like Apple and dislike Nokia bash this product largely because of that. In their hearts they know Apple has to sooner or later come up with a cheapish mobile computer kind of thing, a netbook. Now that Nokia introduces this beautiful looking gadget their reaction is "how dare you! Who do you think you are?"
The tablet, or whatever special hardware Apple's secret team of chip makers are working on, won't be enough, because it's still gonna be "just" a luxury device. On top of that, Nokia already came up with the N900, and their future Maemo lineup is more than capable of taking on with what ever mobile computing Apple is planning to roll out.
The Booklet 3G, if priced below the 600 dollar mark, will be a premium netbook with a tolerable price. If Nokia manages to get a comprehensive carrier support for this thing it will definitely sell nicely.
Yeah, that's great and all; but the real question is...
Will it Hackintosh!?!
I kidd, I kidd...
Everybody hates Nokia.....
*sigh* =(
the only reason to spend $600 on an atom powered netbook is because you hate money right? hell i bet this thing wont even run crysis on high
Just remember guys,
Chris Ziegler said yesterday that Engadget is not a venue for journalism and as such should not be held to those standards.
Then in the same breath talked about his posts being an editorial, based on his "experience" with Nokia devices.
I don't know, engadget is a great site, low key, freedom to say what we want, so I'm not going to say I'm going to storm out and never come back, but I would like to see one of them man up and address this issue. Either say you guys are not a legitimate news organization, turn in your press credentials and just put an * at the end of each of your posts saying (This post represents the opinions of the author and may not represent actual fact) like many editorials do.
Or
Start acting like journalists, and give up this arrogant little attitude you have towards the worlds largest handset maker and show some integrity. Hack journalism from "bloggers" is the biggest reason why no one takes press credentials seriously anymore. It's like you get all the benefits but then when it comes time to back your nerdy little spiels up to your readership that call you out on it, you claim that you aren't bound by any standards of journalism.
I love your site, but I'm damn glad you guys aren't doctors. I could only imagine if I needed a certain type of knee transplant, but because the one I needed wasn't made from glass with a capacitive screen you would tell me it's crap and convince me to go with one that won't let me walk, but allows me to sync with Itunes.
Scary..
LOL!! Fantastic post!!:-) tampa03cobra 1 Engadget 0
"Huge markup" ???
EUR = USD in gadgets, so 575EUR = 575USD.
For 575USD you get 16(!!) cell battery, GPS, 3G, accelerometer, 1-piece aluminum casing, great design (subjective), HDMI, 720p display, fanless cooling solution.
Do your frickin math. Engadget blindly hates Nokia. So nothing new here.
You've lost my trust as bloggers. Not to mention as journalists."
TOTALLY AGREE
