Sony VAIO X stars in esoteric promo video

[Thanks, Bob]

I thought these were obsolete when netbooks came?
Slimmer, frequently lighter, more powerful. No doubt the netbook market is taking a huge bite out of the ultraportable market, but ultraportables are not obsolete because of netbooks.
Do you plan to Video edit or something in the go?
Netbooks have better battery/more portable/lighter and smaller if you look for the slim ones
Maybe only business users can make a use of them but the average person who wants to browse/Msn/move a lot netbook is better
Netbooks actually outsold all kind of laptops last year and it was posted on engadget.
And did i mention netbooks are way cheaper?
You're from OCN!
If this was a ThinkPad I'd buy one.
Dr House,
Some of us actually do business stuff while on the road or traveling and want something that's really light but also powerful. Sure, I could get a Netbook and use it for SQL Server and C#, but I really wouldn't want to, that's for sure. I'm sure Sony is selling less than they used to, but they are still after a different segment than a Netbook is. I'd use a Netbook for my personal stuff, but not for work.
They need to focus on the Vaio P refresh
Are they advertising that it can cut a cake?
The cake is a lie :(
But I would like to have my own Sony branded samurai sword :)
Can it cut sausages? cuase the would be a nice detail to its ad.
That song is marvelous... not sure if I can say the same for the notebook.
That was terrible
Looks tight!
thats what he said!
Good. Now I will no longer have to carry around my samurai sword AND my laptop.
@Hey
Seems like something's wrong with "certain OS" on your computer, because it's hard to read your comment.
thinking this will outperform your standered netbbok = Make.Believe
thinking this will be priced competitively against standered netbooks = Make.Believe
thinking making fun of sony is a new and innovative idea = Make.Believe
Love Sony...not so much the certain OS the laptop runs though....
And the price is...
...way too much for an Atom.
They told me it's going to be more than 1500€.
$1999.99, bob
Look's great!! Pity the internals will suck (and most likely the price)...
shame only VGA output.
Correction: it's a shame the Atom CPU can't handle any HD video. HDMI isn't going to get you anywhere with those internals, so VGA is a good fit.
HOLY SHIT I NEED THIS!!!!
My friends all say Sony has me wipped. Bravia tvs.....VAIO z/cs/aw
I guess they do have me by the balls, but I love thier stuff soooo much!!
Sony's quality is not anything like what it used to be.
i'm with you dad!!
this or an macbook air- money is no object
If this had better internals, I would go for the VAIO X, but as it stands, the internals suck and I would have to say the AIR.
I guess it depends on what you want to do with it. If it was just surfing the internet and word processing, I think I like the style of this better. I'd want to check build quality and durability before picking this though. Usually sony builds some pretty durable products, but this thing is really thin and light. Time will tell...
Air wins easily. Specs, support, and most importantly a great OS.
@Terry
Win7 is better than OSX
Well, with an air, you're looking at a better processor, a better screen, and a better GPU for the same price. If your really hate OSX, just boot it into windows 7.
Take that Steve Jobs, you liver stealing monster.
He didn't steal the liver, he traded it for a MacBook Pro.
Give it to me baby. Uh huh uh huh...
....only with a ulv processor and a
I know how bad it sucks editing a piece to a song after awhile, but common. This guy/girl probably wants to go jump off of a building after having to edit this piece together. I like how clean the edit looks, and some nice things are done, but just watching it once was enough, let alone sitting through hours and hours of editing.
That was extremely boring.
However, the computer looks extremely sexy-licious.
0:38 that's how you end up with a cracked screen.
Hopefully it's a CULV not an atom...
i really liked that vid.... if i was looking for a new laptop that was smaller i would def check that out!
This video will look very silly in 5 years when laptops are actually as thin as a katana.
So, a $2000 Atom based laptop. Talk about high margin.
I posted a video of this Sony X Series laptop at http://techvideoblog.com/ifa/sony-x-series-ultra-thin-laptops/
Thanks for the link!
Thanks for the link
Thanks for the vid.
BTW, the ad. seems to be one targeted at the Asian markets, hence the reason "western" folks might find it strange.
thank you for the link!
@j.d.ripper
The same vid is playing on the UK Vaio site.
Did you guys see at 0:43 when that flower petal fell on the lid and bent it? :)
