Kohjinsha rebrands mbook M1, calls it the PM series UMPC
Hey, remember that cute little mbook M1 that was all the rage earlier this year? Yeah, you're looking at it again, only this time it's sporting a cleaner look and a Kohjinsha badge. The rebranded UMPC gets powered by a 1.1GHz Atom N510 CPU and also features 512MB of RAM, a 16GB SSD, 4.8-inch LCD (1,024 x 600), 1.3 megapixel camera, USB 2.0, a microSDHC expansion slot, built-in WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and a headphone jack. It doesn't appear to tout any sort of inbuilt WWAN, though the included battery should last for right around seven hours before petering out. The only problem? That Texas-sized ¥59,800 ($647) price tag, which should do a commendable job of hindering widespread adoption.

And it hovers too!
a whole 512MB of RAM. wow.
Wow, so small , under powered and overpriced!
Well all mobile computing devices are inevitably a compromise between portability factor (size+weight), performance, and price. And this device obviously leans heavily towards the first.
the irony is that running PuppyLinux with Firefox, Thunderbird, and Sunbird would still run circles around Windows7. And yet, you'd be technologically ahead with HTML5, Flash 10 (without the security leak), and the Only system that updates for such vulnerabilities.
Holy crap, people buy these things? I bet I could type faster on my Blackberry or iPod than on that ridiculously undersized keyboard. 4.8" screen? Stop me before I vomit.
interesting gadget.
Perfect little machine for work VPN access without the bulk!
Want!
Whoa, way too expensive for those specs!
IMO, my MacBook is small enough, thankyouverymuch. :)
Wow fanboys, this looks nothing like an iPhone.
ofcourse it does. they just turned it on its side and added a keyboard, made the screen a bit bigger, added winblows xp and lowered the price.
What a waste of good plastic. I wonder how some marketing & manufacturing engineers are able to keep their jobs after releasing something this expensive. Why would anyone waste $600 on something like this when the Apple tablet will sell in the same price range ( I Hope) & put this gadgets capabilities to shame.
Let's hope they won't be firing any marketing and engineering personnel, purely based on speculative drivel spouted by an uninformed apple-fanboi going by the name of "Lancelot".
You = FAIL
And thats why UMPCs are a waste of time
I like the fact the M1 is built for portability, weighs only 312g, has a webcam. Now give it 3.5g and 1gig RAM and I'd be really tempted.
So it's like that Sharp one, but awesome since it can run Windows.
mmm poor specs, but I will really like to see it running maemo
that would be great
