New HP / Vivienne Tam netbook targets 'butterfly lovers,' waifs

Manhattan socialites and fashionistas might as well stop reading this right now. But if for some strange reason you weren't at New York's Fashion Week yesterday, we are pleased to tell you that "the Tamster" (as we call visionary clothes horse Vivienne Tam) is back with yet another "digital clutch" for the year 2010. Apparently inspired by the classic Chinese love story "Butterfly Lovers," this is yet another hyped-up collaboration between the designer and HP, somehow symbolizing "love, freedom, independence and transformation," according to the PR. While we do know that this device is supposed to make "women around the world... feel independent and free, like butterflies," we've yet to be turned on to any specifics, such as system specs or price. The HP Vivienne Tam digital clutch features an original butterfly design inspired by the classic Chinese love story "Butterfly Lovers." Beautiful butterflies are brought to life on a champagne gold backdrop.

Looks great, I'd like a netbook with that design... but probably not one of HP's netbooks... and I'd probably be willing to pay about a $30 premium, not whatever they'll actually ask for it.

Incidentally, why don't they just make a netbook with xpress-on cover type thing (or some kind of lightweight fabric that stretches over maybe) so you can just clip on a different cover to change the style? That way they can offer zillions of designs, plus you can change it out if you get bored. Maybe they can even set up to print the things from custom artwork so you can make your own, etc. [I believe there's already stickers like this but that doesn't sound great imo - some kind of removable cover would/could be neater.]

i think this whole Vivienne Tam Netbook idea is great. I'm a guy and I admit that I said it! lets face it most notebooks and netbooks do have a color range from silver to gray to black in glossy or non glossy versions and sometimes in a freaky accident they also think poo-brown is also requested but except some very few asian manufacturers there are no colored notebooks (yeah I know there is also Dell..). guys mostly just look to the specs so the coloring is fine, even poo-brown...but ladies do consider the shape, design and coloring as well...so by that it is a smart idea by HP to target them as well...in contrary they are kind a late with this idea. (I also know that they already have this fancy swirls on their regular notebooks and that there are some other colored ones but they are not eye catchy as the tam editions....just admit it)..and lets face it...we all prefer ladies using a tam-edition styled notebook instead a black-serious looking notebook because then the ladies often appear even cuter !!
