AAXA P2 pico projector ships out, sparks little Halo parties everywhere
Optoma's PK102 not swank enough for you? Fret not, as AAXA Technologies is also shipping its second-generation pico projector. The stupendously simplistic P2 packs an LCoS chip, 33 lumens of output, an 800 x 600 native resolution and the ability to throw up your favorite Xbox / Atari / C64 title at up to 80-inches. There's also a VGA output and a few on-device buttons, and if that's exactly what you've been looking for, you can call one your own for $339.

Oh! It is so cute! It would go perfectly with my Lenovo S-10!!!!!!
800 x 600 at 80 inches? *shivers*
I know and 33 lumens is pretty dim but that's nice stats for these led projectors. I'd still rather go with a dell M109S
We're about 4 years before these things are really ready.
Perhaps they should design those pico ones so that you can unplug the lightsource as a module and snap on a separate 'home module' with a better light source, you'd still have pico for on the go that way, and they can sell us extra modules and make extra profit.
if you stand far away it will look good.
Don't forget resoultion clarity is subjective based on viewing distance as well as the quality of your eyes.
if 42'' @ 1080p looks amazing at 10 feet. then 80'' @ 600p should look great at 50 feet :-p just rent out a REALLY dark warehouse.
regardless its a good start
Damn, all those people with hi-def powerpoint slides are bummed.
make it 150$ and I am getting one!
Yeah, THAT'S realistic (eye roll). In about 2 years on the marke, you'll get ur wish- so wait it out cheapskate :)
I actually just paid 150 for my pocket projector but it's only 15 lumens, 640 x 480 Resolution (native, supports 1280x720). This P2 is actually priced pretty well.
CAN SOMEONE TELL ME why are there so many companies making these pocket sized one's? I don't understand the demographic. These stats are respectable but I'll gladly sacrifice size and 35 minute battery for something brighter/ bigger lens/ higher rez. As long as I can fit it into my laptop bag and the power adapter isn't a huge brick- I'm happy and I'm sure the gamer or the coporate power point guy would be too.
Pretty neat concept. If they where cheaper as Marko said, I would be in. But we need a portable xbox to go with it...Come on Ms. There's a market for a decent hand held.
umm don't you mean VGA input? why would this need an output?
Yeah classical no-tech people mistake, input not output.
For people that don't have two video outs on their computer for monitor and the projector.
Of course this is useless for laptops which is the likely output source for this device.
looking at the hollywood dj website that sells them, it is an input, not an ouput.
Thanks for checking.
Sadly there won't be any use for this little guy in gaming. The days of LAN party are ending. All thanks to the dumb ass so call video game reviewers. They never review LAN features, thus the developers never to bother with them any more. If the reviewers start to bash games that do not support LAN play we will see a return to LAN play. Blizzard will get their ass together and pull an all nighter just to put it back into Starcraft.
Those 33 lumens have got to be GORGEOUS at 80 inches.
Im still waiting for news on the Microvision one that has triple lasers ie no need for manual focus.
I've read the lasers have a tendency to speckle though.
