Marketplace won't work. Same with HD Radio. Everything else should.
This deal was relative when it first listed (that I know of) a few weeks ago. It was 15 percent and stacked with the Dell 3 percent discount as well. Now it's a little more than useless since the Zune is backordered for like 2 months on Dell's website (thanks to the popularity of this deal no doubt).
I am personally waiting til after I hear some good news about gaming on the Zune, then I'll special order one from zuneoriginals.
Yo do you really think it will take them that long to ship me a zune if i order it? I got it pre ordered at best buy and im planning on going first thing tuesday morning but if i could save 40 dollars im willing to wait a day or 2 longer but if its longer ill rather shell out full price for it.

you cant ship it directly to India dude coz this has to pass through customs/excise department as taxes are higher in India.I tried something like this once and it did not work out for me.The best bet would be to ask your family/friends in the states to buy it and get it for you.
why would you buy a zune hd unless your already in the zune town? no apps, no games, no browser, does everyone keep a 720p hdtv in their backpack to hook that zune hd up to? seems silly to me, and just so i dont sound like a fangirl, the only iPod i own is a 2g nano, and I actually thought the 2nd gen flash zunes looks really nice, sad to see they're killing the line

Microsoft waited till Apple made the touchscreen PMP popular and then released their own, added some flashy UI, named it HD and implied that it will do something different, and now a few Apple haters want it.
Maybe Microsoft can make it to 1.2% Market share this year..

And being that you connect the Zune to a computer, and since a laptop is both a computer and can fit in a backpack, I guess all your complaints don't hold true. But if you want a HDTV that can fit in a backpack, there are many 19" HDTVs on Amazon. Since a 19" laptop can fit in a backpack a 19" HDTV should fit.

The Zune HD does have a browser, it's based off Mobile IE, and is pinch-zooming just like the iPod Touch. There's been blurrycam photos of an Applications section in the Marketplace, but no official word from Microsoft when or what kind of apps will be available. The Zune also already has some games, but on a limited (think iPod Classic) basis. Give it time, the iPod Touch went a year before getting anything beyond what Apple put in.
Zune HD has all the features you just said it doesn't have. It has a multi-touch browser, it has an app store there is a video for it on qik being demoed at a Best Buy store, and it has not just 2D games like the old Zunes but 3D gaming.
Seems to me more like it's just the MS haters that won't give the Zune HD the respect it deserves, not even bothering to do any research on the device before they bash it.
Zune HD is more than just a flashy UI:

What more do the Zune haters want Microsoft to include in a portable media player before they start giving it respect? The Zune HD weighs half the amount of an iPhone.The iTouch is an incredible device with a phenomenal UI and a great app store, but there's a lot about the Zune HD that is superior to anything Apple has ever offered with the iPod Touch.
Microsoft isn't about more features though, didn't you hear? It's all about the (untested, unverified, or unreliably speculated) awesome sound and build quality!

Amount of features goes to the iPod line hands down, but if you make a habit of sitting within two feet of your HDTV, or often seclude yourself from others in a perfectly quiet environment for listening to music, then HD just might be for you. Sucker.
No apps games or browser? Are you also under the impression that it can't play MP3s, or that it doesn't have a battery? While you're making up blatantly false things, why don't you also say it won't work with your headphones?
1.)Why would you need to sit 2 feet in front of your HDTV? Zune HD dock comes with a remote control if that's what you're trying to say.
2.) The Zune HD will have games, it even says so on the box in giant letters, and there is also video footage of a 3D racing game playing on Zune HD
3.) The Zune Marketplace will have apps, there is video footage of someone discovering the "apps" category on a Zune HD at one of the Best Buy in-store demonstrations
Do you do any research on a product before you decide to start trashing it and calling the people who want it "suckers?"

That's not just any 3D racing game, either. According to gaming sites, that's Forza 3, a highly-anticipated racing sim to be coming out on the 360.
If they start porting XBox titles en masse (and targeting their gaming development resources at new games for Zune), this could effectively become the XBox Handheld everyone's been waiting for.
1. No games and apps when the customer first gets it = no games and apps. Otherwise I could count an FM tuner and wireless n in the iPod touch, along with HD video out (all of which could be added later by Apple).
2. To see the difference between SD 480 (iPods) and HD 720 (ZuneHD), you WOULD have to be about two-three feet away. 720p isn't even full HD, it's hardly different than SD on most sets.
3. Stop glorifying Microsoft, they have enough money to develop something that people like me can't argue for the iPod over, so why not complain about a product that is obviously below their capacity to create? To take advantage of the superior features of the HD, you either need to be at home (HD video out), in a quiet place (HD radio), or in a dark place (OLED screen). More features with more portability = iPod touch.
I feel that we should be pressing for better products from bigger companies with more resources, and if you disagree I'd LOVE to hear your reasoning.
For some reason we are still treated like we live in igloos and hunt beavers. We are a fully functioning country with high tech needs too. I do not understand what is so hard for companies to just release tech at the same time for both US and Canada, we share a huge border but we might as well be on Mars.

Microsoft could easily sell a $30 microphone headset for Zune, just like Apple does for iPod/iPhone. I should know, considering I had to buy one. *grumble* *grumble*
How are "apps" and "games" still question marks to you when we have video footage of both of them. Hell Kotaku just posted a picture of the Zune HD box art that says "GAMES" in giant letters on the outside. We have an official MS promo video for Buy.com of the Zune HD running a 3D racing game with the narrator saying that the Zune HD plays games. We have a video of a category inside the Zune Marketplace on the Zune HD that says "Apps."
Comparing iPod Nano to Zune HD has to be a joke, right? The Nano is not capable of a fraction of the things the Zune HD is.

The demo videos show the Zune's UI being significantly more snappy than the iPod Touch. I'm not sure where you're getting your information.

Plenty of us saw it in person at the Best Buy event. It was fluid as hell. I went to play with the iPod touches after and they were noticeably less snappy. It's probably the difference between 45 and 60 fps.
On sale before it even hits the streets? Uh oh.
As I stated in another article, Saturday I bought a 5G Nano at Costco. They were selling it for $10 less than Apple's store sells them. I grabbed one when they were first putting them out. So on sale the first day they are available, OH NOES! The iPod is in trouble!

As others have said, this isn't a sale on the Zune. This is a coupon for the Dell store, which they have all the time. It just so happens the Zune HD is part of the Dell store, and therefore the coupon applies. From the looks of it, tons of people have already taken advantage of this since the estimated shipping date is now in October.
The Zune has been around for several years too. This discount is Dell specific, on anything in the 'Electronics and accessories' category. If Dell sold ipods then this discount would apply to them. Maybe if you actually did some reading you would look less of a pillock

The 15% discount isn't specifically for Zune, it is a general 15% discount coupon on all Dell electronics. People are attributing this coupon to Zune HD because a lot of people want a Zune HD and this is a way to get it cheap. The wait time if you buy from Dell now could be as much as 2 months after release. I ordered from Dell a couple of days ago and it says the earliest I will get is Oct. 7th. Now the site says there is a 6+ week wait for anyone ordering.
Actually it means that Microsoft allows vendors to discount devices, like about every other OEM on the planet.
FWIW, nobody is offering a discount on the device itself. Dell has no incentive to start discounting a brand new product they are not going to be able to fulfill the orders on for weeks.
Dell offers a million coupons for their website, it just so happens that this one can be used towards anything in their electronics store and they happen to be selling Zune HDs. If you want to use this discount towards a Zune HD dock instead there's nothing stopping you. It's just a general coupon code.
I wouldn't be surprised if Dell gets a ton of people to cancel their orders by pushing back the delivery date on these orders to an absurd point. I've been through this type of thing with dozens of video game console launches.

How many High Def video can you put on a 32gb device? so if you look at The Dark Knight HD on thepiratebay.com, you will see it is almost 8gb. so that means 4 movies, 4 movies on your zune and its full. now people will sit here and say who cares, but many of you argue that it is a main selling point of being able to play hd movies to an hdtv. so why spend that much money on something that can carry around so little. and hd radio? are you people serious. who gets music off the radio. sweet i can listen to a song that has been out for 4 months and is played on every other station. yeah ill pass.

No regular mp3 players have screens worth watching movies on compared to the PMPs (touch and HD). Touch was only recently announced to have a 64gb iteration coming out. So it's not like this was always the case.

Yup, I pre-ordered one of these bad boys on Saturday morning. A friend's g/f works at a local shop (Frys) going to see if she can get me a discount on it, as I'd really like to pick one up tomorrow at a discount before I leave on a work trip for a few days. If not Dell will keep my order :D

Hey, for everyone that is getting a rediculous estimated arrival date like sometime in October: I Just called Dell customer support and they said that my item will ship out tomorrow (September 15th) and will arrive 2 days after (as I chose 2 business day shipping.) My "estimated arrival date" on the Dell order status page was October 10th but I guess that page was wrong.

Well, they removed the deal. And, it seems, the Zune HD itself. I can't find it on Dell's website. It looks like they took it down. Bummer.
Man, I really want a Zune HD. I just can't quite reconcile that desire with the hassle of trying to figure out a workaround to get it to work on my Mac.

I just checked the site for this, and it seems as though they have removed it. I asked a customer service rep about it, and all they could tell me was that it doesn't look like they're offering it. WTF!?!
