Nixie Concrete Clock is perfect for the bomb shelter or the bedroom
What desktop contraption could possibly be more evocative of the Cold War than a handcrafted clock made with some genuine Nixie tubes? How about a clock made with Nixie tubes and forged in concrete? While it's unfortunately just a one-off creation for now, this so-called Nixie Concrete Clock designed by Daniel Kurth is indeed fully functional (and even wall-mountable, depending on the wall), and could possibly be headed into production if Kurth can line up a few partners (and buyers). In the meantime, you can get a closer look at the clock by hitting up the read ilnk below, and contemplate the daunting task of building your own after taking a peek at the spec list (which includes 244 cable connections).

If the bomb shelter requires a bomb proof clock... wouldn't it be too unsafe to be a bomb shelter?
Dum? Really? Did you do that on purpose?
Dumb.
Go me for clicking the wrong reply button. It was meant for the post below.
Hey did you noticed how you have to read the time vertically? the chinese way, makes you think that.
I could chuck it at my boss's window when he tells me I'm late for work!
Solid!
Its boss', not boss's.
It's "it's", not "its."
Wow that slipped by me! I don't know how that slipped by me since my name ends in a 's.'
-_-
actually, he was right with "Boss's"
Actually your both wrong it's;

irable: it's "you're". thanks for playing.

iRable, it's "you're." Thanks for playing.

Can we stop this bull shit over punctuation, grammar & spelling? It's the internet! People miss things so what.
iRable: it's "an 's,'" not "a 's.'"
And for the record, you were right the first time with "boss's." Unless you were speaking of more than one boss and then it would be "bosses.'"
Scrubs...
@ petrie1130
Wrong!
It's " Bosses' " for a possessive plural.
I could chuck it at my bosses' window, when he tells me I'm late for work!
-_-
It's obviously not plural it;s "when he tells me". Plural would be "when they tell me".
So all your bosses share the same window?
Your dum.
Reading this thread, I'm beginning to think I don't speak English very well.
For all this moaning about correct punctuation I thought for sure someone would comment on the author's mistake.
ilnk?
C'mon...

iRabies?
FORD TOUGH?!
Might want to fix "ilnk"
Since I cannot read that type of clock, nor do I care to learn, can I swap out those bulbs with 6 GE 15 watters? EAT THAT IKEA!
it says 10:23:54. 23 minutes and 54 seconds past 10 o'clock. now, that wasn't too hard, was it? it's also under the read link.
So. . . . . . can you only read like. . . Binary clocks then. I've never met anyone that can't read "digital" clock.
hm..... first.. i need a bomb shelter.
It would look cooler is the case was a WWII style olive drab metal box.
What's with all the quicktime movies lately?

I'll pay to keep this from reaching store shelves.
Thanks Prokanda! Woot! That will NEVER come in handy......pffff
Stop posting crap from Gizmodo-several-days-ago that isn't interesting anyway.
It's a long time tradition, and some original comments could re-make it interesting, not yours though so far.
Maybe this (little fib) will help: It's run from an iphone app on an iphone embedded in the concrete.
Talk about doing HARD TIME!
