Archos phone tablet teased: Android, 4.3-inch touschscreen, 1GHz ARM processor
In an all-too brief teaser at a press conference across the pond, Archos decided to give a few more details and a teaser pic of the Android phone it announced back in February. According to the slide, it's got a 4.3-inch touchscreen with 854 x 480 resolution, a 1GHz ARM processor -- likely comparable to Archos 5, but pretty powerful considering what all other Android phones have so far arrived with -- and a 10mm-thick shell. Size and specs-wise, it matches up quite handily to the Snapdragon- and Windows Mobile-powered Toshiba TG01, although that one's already taking up retail shelf space, and it looks like we'll be waiting for some of those infamous Archos leaks if we want any more information the phone tablet in the near future.

I don't get why form factors with LCD's always have a thick edge margin. It's wasted space .. they could have expanded the screen real estate instead. And no it's not to hold the LCD in place how come two of the sides are flush with the edge?
As funny as the Adriana Sage comment was, you miss the point of the 720p playback. It's for the video out connection. Watching shit on a tv at 720p is nice. Pretty sure no one will argue that it doesn't matter much on a 4 or 5 inch screen.
Wow. This is the ideal Android phone for me. It sounds like everything I've been asking for...Engadget, get me more details quickly! Now I'm excited.
WHOA, this Archos looks ready to fill up my pocket. For the first time in years I may leave HTC products!
AT&T, get this... NOW
Any US carriers announced yet?! So other then all the lil charges that this company always charges, what would stop me from buyin this, hmmm...? Wonder how often they have software/hardware updates, hmmm...? I dont care too much about the annoying charges, but I dont wanna be left in the dark once i buy this thing. Any word from ppl who own other versions, sound off plzz.
ALso, I'd actually prefer WM6.5 (or WM7), since my software titles are WM versions.
@Johan If your a fan of HTC and Winmo (For whatever reason) You might want to check out the HTC leo if you haven't already. The hardware is comparable to this and HTC does winmo pretty well.
as for this phone most of what I just read excited me.
Android phone, 1GHz ARM processor. 854 x 480 resolution, 4.3-inch screen.
There is one part that worried me though.
Archos phone.
I never thought I would say this about an android device but that is some impressive hardware, I only hope it has a UI to that is equally as impressive.
I seriously doubt the HTC Leo will come to US. Plus the Archos phone has a better screen resolution for my main desire, good movie playback whilst having phone & PDA function.
I just don't understand why every company thinks it's cool to preview their products in Feb. and then in September still not have anything in the store. The idea is simple, (and apple gets it), create a buzz, generate a desire, and put it in their credit-card-ready hands.
