Griffin's volume-limiting MyPhones can't crank to 11... or 8
Griffin Technology's MyPhones are far from being the first cans on the market with volume limiting tech built-in, but unlike some parent-friendly options, these can never, ever be cranked to levels appropriate for ear bashing. You see, rather than giving adults (you know, those Earthlings that are already hard of hearing) the chance to set the limit too high for their offspring, Griffin has implemented an "always-on sound-control circuit to cap peak volume levels at 85 decibels." That's the maximum level recommended by many auditory health organizations, and if you don't like it, tough noogies. But we mean, just look at those two kiddos above -- don't they just look elated? Kidz Bop 14 at barely-audible levels tends to have that effect, or so we hear.

lame.
lol, they're not elated, they're laughing at the crew of cameramen making fun of their parents that are filming another episode of wifeswap, apple vs pc!
LOL love the cute closing sentence!
"...or so we hear."
Hehehe
What's the point? When those kids start clubbing some years later their parents' investment in crappy sounding limiting phones will we as good as wasted.
Here's a better idea:
Don't give 5 year olds iPods.
In 5 years or so the kid on the right is gonna be ultra hairy.
Is it just me or do those kids look hella creepy?
The effectiveness of these particular earphones notwithstanding, I think the idea of limiting volumes in kid's ears is a good one, generally. Many of my friends have strong or mild tinnitus, and much of it started with walkmans many years ago
I just want to punch the ad executive who decided that "My (insert product here)" was a good name for kids' versions of products. It's all over the place, and it seems to be playing to a behavior that parents should be beating out of their kids: The tendency to claim something as "MINE!!!" and be selfish. You can't listen to them, because they're MYphones! It's a product name that just begs kids to be selfish brats.
And as a side note, any set of kids' headphones used for KIDZ BOP should have the ability to detect KIDZ BOP and turn the volume down to zero. It's for the kids' own good. KIDZ BOP is consumer whore poison in a candy shell.
who cares kids listen to crap music anyway.
