I work for target and the system will not let you sell them before 10/01/09. Any item that has a street date when rung up before the date, comes up as NOT SELLABLE STREET DATE (then the date of the product). I work in Electronics and the fact that someone put it out on display is strange or maybe they are just stupid and can't read because the boxes in the back clearly say DO NOT SELL BEFORE 10/01/09

Yup, saw some at Fry's Electronics in Concord, very tempted to buy one, saw it on the 26th - http://i36.tinypic.com/1432efm.jpg
I'll bet the person that took this pick works there and put them on the shelf just for this picture.
I'm gonna agree with you there, we retail workers get a little bored in times when the econ's not so hot.
There selling them at my local gamestop, ballina co mayo, in ireland..
Target has put out shelf tags in most stores (207-19-0066) but the item cannot be sold until October 1. I tried and the salesperson attemped to ring it up but it came up with a message clearly stating that it cannot be sold until October 1.
The PS3 went on sale early almost everywhere though. Never know if it is a hard date or a loose one.
I work at Walmart, we've got colored Dual Shock 3s and when someone tries to buy one, the register won't let us sell it. Odds are the unscrupulous Target employees who sold these already are ringing them up as something else. The guy who tried to get a red DS3 from me asked me to ring it up as a black one, and I of course turned him down. Hefty fines for anyone who sells something before its street date.
i dont even play my custom fw psp 1000 that i can download games for so why would i pay $250 for another psp that hasnt even been hacked..........yet
