You know that
UMD-to-PSP Go conversion program? Ain't gonna happen. The "good will" program that would have provided free (or at least heavily discounted) digital copies of games already purchased on UMD discs has been scrapped. A spokesman for SCEA said, "We were evaluating a UMD conversion program, but due to legal and technical reasons we will not be offering the program at this time." Adding insult to injury, the PSP Go Rewards program offering 3 free games to European UMD owners will not be offered in the US. That's the bad news. The not so bad news is that 16,000 pieces of digital content will be available for the US PSP Go launch on October 1st. These include 225 downloadable games (full PSP titles, PSN exclusives, UMD legacy titles, and Minis), 2,300 films, and 13,300 television episodes. Still, not quite the "at least 300" digital games we were expecting. So US PSP owners, still planning to "upgrade?"

Is there really anyone who didn't expect this to be an unmitigated disaster the moment they announced the price point? Frankly I'm expecting it to fail quicker than the virtual boy.
The idea is good - download only game system with built in memory, but the execution was horrible.
Everything about this system is wrong; too expensive, not enough built in memory, no actual "upgrades" to the hardware or software, and worst of all, no way to transfer the PSP games you already own.
Here's the thing though,
The second hand gaming market is bad fore EVERYONE except EBgames. If you buy a game for 50 bucks, and sell it back for 5, you paid 45 dollars to RENT a game, which is utter BS. Then, EB turns around and sells that game for $45 of which NO money goes to the developers of the game. Physical media needs to go away, and the PSP Go is the first step to dragging us kicking and screaming into the real future of digital media, which cuts out the middle man.
The only reason I've ever had to sell or trade in games was to make more shelf space for new games. Now that games can be stored on hard drives, there's no point.
Ok, I'm done ranting, time to go watch all the lovely new Animation Domination goodies sitting on my DVR.
This is why people pirate software. If Sony doesn't believe in "Good Will", why should we?
LOL I'm picking up my white GO on friday!
idk why everyone is so mad at the GO....keep ur psp 1000 2000 3000s you dont HAVE to upgrade.
I'm buying it for its smaller form factor and I've never had any "real" games on my 1000 so its not a loss on me.
Any person that indulges themselves in apple products shouldn't be complaining........XP
"still planning to "upgrade?""
Fuck no.
as a current PSP owner I can not see any good reason to upgrade. Sony wouldn't dare lock current users out of the system which allows online purchases.
The PSP is a cool machine. The PSP go is too expensive and does not add any functionality. I say Why Bother?
Current owners need not apply their hard earned cash to the GO IMHO.

ROFL.... So much for "Good Will"!!!
We're not going to allow you to download games you already own, but you can always go purchase the exact same game at full retail, so you can play it on this device that has a smaller screen. LOL.
Actually, this sounds exactly like Sony. I owned a Sony MP3 player, and when they decided to close their Music store, they told me to just burn the .OMA files I bought from them to a CD(but the crappy Sonic Stage software didn't work). And, the refused to offer any type of conversion program for .OMA files.
After trying for 3 days, I finally just downloaded them from P2P.
Who does Sony think it is, Apple??
To hell with Sony. This is just another of the many reasons they are dead last this gen. They are an absolute dinosaur in terms in terms of their thinking. They cannot seam to get anything right. The sad thing is that they have some really talented people and some really great IPs and they are pissing it all away because their coporate offices cannot make a decent decision to save their lives.
It's ridiclous. Sony is such a tightwad. I'm thinking about getting a DS and selling my old PSP. Or maybe I'll buy an XBox 360. I'm just angry at Sony for being so stingy, but that's money-hungry Japenese companies for you. No offense to Japanese people.
