TomTom car kit for iPhone will run $120
We've been waiting quite a while to hear pricing info for the much-anticipated TomTom car kit for the iPhone. The kit, which will be sold separately from the navigational iPhone app, will be available in October (that's almost now!!). While we still don't have full details on what the whole package will include, it's officially going to run you $119.95 (or 99.99 if you pay in Euros). Check out the teaser video after the break to tide you over until the awesome, GPS-infused release date is upon us.

What a rip off... $120 for a little piece of plastic and a GPS "enhancer"... whatever.
Don't know if someone has pointed this out yet, but one advantage to Navigon or TomTom over buying a standalone unit is you license the app and maps just once and add the software to however many iPhones you have linked up to your iTunes account. In my case that's two iPhones running on the same license, so it effectively cuts my application cost to $50/device. But...wait, there's more....we also have an iPod Touch, so supposedly the TomTom car kit with external GPS chipset should turn that device into a GPS unit as well...now the numbers are starting to look a bit better. But that's just me and why I went this route on iPhone.
TomTom app and this window clip is a failure on their part
If the Car Mount meant getting spoken Street Names ... then I'd be in.
But will the GPS receiver in the Tom Tom car kit work with other iPhone GPS apps (including the Navigon app)?
besides the costly price, which EVERY FRICKING PERSON seems like they HAVE to mention, the flaw with this device is that you have to take your phone out the case...WTF? i have the new see through casemate cases and those are annoying to remove. i only remove it about once a week to clean my phone.
and like Raymond mentioned. once you buy this app and have it on your Itunes. you can give it to 5 other iphone owners and have them pay you or do it for your family members for free. You really get your moneys worth instead of one GPS device that you would have to share.
Also the multiple functionality is great, thats the whole point of paying for these kinds of things. I admit its pricey, but i dont know why everyone has to mention the same thing, we get it. But seriously put it together, you buy a mount, a gps, a car music player, a charger. thats a lot to carry around? and bring with you?
well its just a matter of how people see it. I think i'll pay for the convenience. though i really do think Tom TOm needs to smarten up with their prices if it wants to attract broader range of customers. i feel as if navigon is winning, i havent tried that app, but alot of people say its better, i know it has TTS and Lane assistant but I'm sure tom tom will have that sooner or later. i mean better as in terms of UI, and realistic view?...
is it really better?
