lol, well you should check out some news sites that allow comments. A lot of conservatives attack democrats on every, single, article. It's pretty funny.
And I agree. Looking back at the PS2 it's pretty ugly but it was marketed really well and had a sexy box. So, it seemed very svelte at the time. I suppose that it had the majority of all good games helped it a bit too.

Get your nouns in line - Conservatives are not necessarily Republican, there is such a thing as a Conservative Democrats. You're comparing things against each other that may include one another.

Anyone that has a ps3 go to ur browser and look at the picture in zoom... its clearly FAKE, just zoom in on the 250 gb in the bottom corner.

Oh my god, now that I think of that blue box, it brings back memories. It really made me excited as I was bringing the console home from the store.

I agree. I'm picking one up in November, and putting a good reserve in for M.A.G.. And with Blu-ray, it's a win-win.
You could always get a 1tb hdd from newegg and shove in there wtf? i think the whole 250gb hdd was just to compete with the xbox

The hard drive size may be reasonable but the price is not. Given that the 250GB model is £40 more than the original 120GB, and a spare 320GB hard drive is £39.99, for the same money (that is, 1 penny less) you get 70GB more and the original 120GB to spare.
I saw a Best Buy selling 500GB upgraded machines on the floor as new for $479.99, that adds up to roughly a $80 premium for BB to install it for you based on the price they are selling a 500GB drive. Certainly you can get a 500GB drive cheaper and install it yourself and save around $100.

on the bottom right of the box you can see it says 250gb
Ah yeas, writing '250gb' on stuff makes it immune from going dark in the shade.
it's most likely dodgy lighting, it is in a store, lightings messed up in in stores.
You blind? The one box is totally gray and the the other totally white. Don't know what lighting you are thinking of but I'm sure that that technique still needs to be invented to light stuff that way.
bunch of idiots, look at the top left corner of the so-called "white" box. It has a shadow cast on it and -- OMG -- its THE SAME GRAY COLOR!!!!
Uhm, it might just be me, but I'm pretty sure the 250GB is already out in the UK. There are boxes in GAME and they don't say preorder. In fact, I think we've had them for a couple of weeks now.

don't call someone an idiot before considering the possibility you could be one.
If you look at the picture you can clearly see the boxes are two different colors. The 120 gb ps3 is setting back on the shelf a little but causing the game above which is farcry to cast a shadow on the corner of the box. Also note that a flash was used during this picture which would brighten the surface of the box. So yes the 250 gb box is gray.
First off, there was no flash used. How do I know? because the shiniest surface, which is closest to the camera, is not reflecting one (the corner of the granite slate).
Secondly, every graphic on the "gray" box appears an equally darker shade than the box on the right. Look at the image of the system itself and you can tell that the gradient appears much darker.
it's only a matter of time soon they'll get ubuntu back on that o.o
or you could just buy a 120gb slim and just swap out the harddrive

Come on Engadget. hire sombody in the UK. we get cool stuff too you know.

No its silver/gray. so you can tell them apart.

And I did not see the console available anywhere else nor in Spain or in any other shop on Gibraltar. But of course it may be in the UK, I don't know.
Here's the thing though, if the price of the 250gb slim is $399, you might as well buy a 120gb slim and swap in a 500gb HDD, and then you have more space in your ps3 and have a spare 120gb HDD.
those in the know will do that.
But for the most part folks won't find out you can swap out the hardrive till they open the box n read the manual.
And that's how Sony will make some cash on the side.

Blah I only use my first gen Ps3 now as a blu Ray player. My high end quad core pc with dx11 hardware a 5870 drives circles around it in games and storage space. 250gb isn't bragging. 2 terabytes plus 640 gb at 10,000 rpm is worth bragging about.
Because gaming is about hard drive speeds and gigabytes, not games.
