Dell reveals new Adamo XPS, gives no details

Update: And... that was it. Seriously, you would think Dell would've maybe learned something from the original Adamo launch and maybe dished out some info, but as usual they just waved it around for a second and then talked about less-interesting things. Still, here's what we know -- it's super thin, and it obviously unfolds in a completely new way. We're digging for more, we'll let you know.

That is thin!!
unfortunately, that's what she said
it is thin, but can it cut cake?
whoa.. apparently it can float... who's on for laptop frisbee ..
The Dell guy seems a bit taken aback by his own device in that first pic.
"I wonder if they can see it if I hold it sideways..."

(PS. I didn't see my last post come up that i posted, waited 5mins so I hope this isnt a double comment!)
those 5 people who bought the first Adamo might be interested..
as to those other million people who got sucked in by its original 'hype' machine and then were sadly disappointed with the price and product.
no thanks.
because only Apple is allowed to charge a premium for good design right?
@Proud Japanese
I'm sorry, Dell's overpricing is justified by Apple's???
downgrade the price
My kids have made bookmarks thicker than that sucker.
Thinner than a Macbook Air? Less cake knife shaped? We totally need specs.
It's an optical illusion...the Dell guy has a long face.
You can probably gauge the thinness by comparing it to the size of his iris. Iris' vary in size, but it's in matters of a couple of millimeters, and on any one individual, it's fixed at birth.
I've done the calculations. It's 9.99 millimeters. That or I read the article on cnet.
put some good hardware inside...at least a geforce 9400m.
$2500 Minimum price im guessing.
Wrong! It'll be $2499 probably.
i hope dell releases this, or something just like this, in the $1000 range.
If anyone can hit that price point it's dell.
"keep it locked?"
way to keep it street radio, Nilay lol
Core i7 perhaps?
I don't think any of the currently available Core iX CPUs are capable of the CULV-like specs needed for something this small.
I wonder if that's the first time anyone has ever said 'wild' and 'hinge design' in the same sentence.
"you can see a pretty wild hinge design"
not really. looks just like any other Dell hinge, just not at the back -- moved forward like on the original Adamo.
It actually looks different than the original Adamo. In the pictures, it looks like the guy is holding it upside down, but I think he's actually holding it correctly. It looks like there are two separate pieces, one longer, and one shorter, just like the original Adamo. However, on the original, the longer piece was the keyboard and the shorter piece was the screen. It looks like they may have reversed that here? The longer piece is the screen and the shorter piece is the keyboard. That means that, because of the one-inch overhang of the longer piece, when you open the screen, the keyboard will be raised up at an angle. So basically, it's like the original Adamo flipped upside down and opened that way.
Of course, I haven't seen any pictures confirming my hypothesis, but that's what it looks like from the pictures.
@Matt
Very keen analysis, I think you should check out this article. The site describes the xps adamo similarly to your observations.

Wow. Just wow. Thin as hell!
Does it have a optical drive, because if it does, then win.
why? it just adds unnecessary weight
I still depend on DVD's. Why is that bad?
http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/28/airis-praxis-slim-air-is-one-inch-thick-kirftastic/
still retains light-weighted feel.
still retains its battery draining option?
if you want thin and light... and still depend on disks, buy a slimline external drive.
as for the target demographic. this is perfect.
seriously?
I've taken the DVD drive out of my 15-inch laptop. Haven't used it in over a year, and removing it gives me less weight, more airflow. Everything I could possibly want or need is either on my external hard drive or my 32GB flash drive.
Looks like the computer part is built into the screen and the keyboard folds down, rather than the computer being build into the keyboard with a screen that folds up
Flip the screen over and you might have a nice tablet.
Looks like a built in "foot" that pivots out when you open screen
that hinge looks interesting, seems to lift the back of the computer u to. seems like a good idea. dell is obviously thinking out of the box. well done!
but what about on your lap? seems like you'd have trouble if the hinge is sticking out at an angle like that.
I wonder if this computer will ship with a 1.2Ghz processor and cost $1,999.
hmm, interesting...
From teh first pic, it looks like there are vents (or speakers) on the backside of the screen.
thats the bottom of the computer and the screen half of the laptop is actually larger than the base.
Another piece of shit fanboy from left field.
Looks like the screen and battery are connected, and as the screen opens up, the battery pivots down as a 'stand' of sorts. So that the keyboard is sloping upwards when in use.
Did they at least announce it was a computer?
We have a bunch of dells at my office and I don't know of any of them being a piece of shit. Nor were the one's I've owned for personal use. So please, back that slam up with some facts.
If that's a Tablet with a wireless keyboard, then I am totally buying it.
Someone should produce an updated Compaq Concerto.
