Lenovo IdeaPad U150 found hiding in plain sight at CEATEC (video)
Can't say we've ever seen this beaut from Lenovo before. Unassumingly tucked away along a number of already-released laptops at the Intel booth, the 11.6-inch IdeaPad U150 is a lightweight with some interesting textures tattooed on its exterior. There wasn't a lot of details at the booth beyond its name, but from what's been unearthed via an xmit online product listing, it's got a Core 2 Duo SU4100 with integrated GMA X4500 graphics, meaning we're falling away from netbooks and into CULV territory. Performance-wise, we couldn't get into it far enough to check the full specs and run some tests, but as you can see in the video after the break, the boot time is not-quite-noteworthy 30 seconds long. Small, light, and more umph than Atom? Sounds like a winning combination, if the price is right. No official word on that, but xmit lists approximately $770 as the cost to own.

Still waiting for a ThinkBook. Or NetPad.
You're seriously going to buy a $750+ Thinkpad netbook or whatever it will be called? Heck, for that amount of money, you could get a proper X series Thinkpad.
Yeah, but it's a ThinkPad......
Am I supposed to use it as a mirror or what?
Truth be told, I hate whoever first came up with the idea of "glossy screen" back when every LCD panel on the planet was with matte surface.
Or was that Apple?
Tell you what I hate. How much bloatware that comes with these machines. (Acer are the worst, but these come a close second). Look at that picture, not even the humble login screen is safe! Its madness!
It might be the fingerprint authentication software. Without it I doubt Windows would recognize your fingers.
Aye, the glossy screen is a beast that must be put down. As shiny as it is to begin with, it quickly gets annoying.
I hate the texture design, make it look so tacky
I hate the texture design, make it look so tacky
i don't see what is so stellar about this, it looks just like a compaq
It doesn't seem to take the same design style as any of the other Lenovo products which can't be a bad thing. Want the complete specs please. The wake time of Vista isn't indicative of actual performance considering the issues I have with waking my vista desktop...
how is it hiding....if it's in plain sight....stupid title.
Google: "hiding in plain sight"
{facepalm}
P.S. Dear Sony and now Lenovo: these texured finishes on your notebooks are an unwelcome eyesore, as are the pastel colors and glitter. Please stop.
Quit using crappy Intel graphics!!!!!!
This is ugly!!
Is the SU4100 fairly new? Because a search on Intel's site for CPU's with that model number came back with a Pentium. http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=43568&code=SU4100
X4500? may not be a GM950, but...
that said, if it can play 720 off youtube, and can play a 720p mkv, fulfills my needs
youtube HD requires a dual core cpu, which this has so yeah but since this is the intel 4500 and the intel 4500hd, HD video maybe an issue as the HD model adds HD codec/decoding support.
This a is disappointing replacement for the U110, which came with an external optical drive standard, and the better Intel LV SL9x000 cpu. Plus, it looks way better than this. Then again this does look a bit more durable and it does cost 400 less than U110 is going for.
