Transparent Sony VAIO X amazingly captured on camera

We've already gotten a couple of up close looks at Sony's new thin-and-light VAIO X ourselves, but it seems that the company had a little something extra for its debut at a press event in China today: an amazing transparent edition of the laptop. Of course, the chances of it ever seeing a store shelf are even slimmer than its impossibly thin profile, but we're guessing this is the best glimpse most folks will get of the laptop's internals -- as anyone shelling out $1,300+ for one of these likely won't be able to bear prying it apart. Be sure to hit up the gallery below for a closer look courtesy of our pals at Engadget Chinese.

Yuck. Stick with carbon fiber, Sony.
Every day I begin to dislike plastic laptops just a little bit more.
Transparent aluminum?
I know it's really impressive to show off your e-peen by bashing products and companies, but this isn't something for sale... it's a way to show us how the laptop is assembled.
I think this type of laptop would outsell a carbon fiber option, though. This is neat and a little unusual. The more choices the better, I say, so it's a shame this won't be available for purchase.
I'm tired of matte plastic laptops. HP was smart to have a different style, and the same has never hurt Apple.
+1 for the transparent aluminium. It's finally here and only 23 years late!
See through.......mmmmmm.....
If I were a computer, my floppy disk wouldn't be so floppy right now.
@Gimbo
No bashing here, idiot. Well, only a single bash now.
Yes, I know it is a prototype (although I did hear that toshiba is releasing a laptop without keys), but nonetheless it's hideous. Instead of showing the ugly innards of the machine, show me those beautiful slabs of that carbon-fuck-fiber.
And maybe you like showing your epeen (...really?) in the form of idiotic responses to comments you don't understand or take too literally/seriously. But trust me, no one wants to see that.
the transparency is cool, but Sony should bust this thing out with one of those old gameboy color cases
The only reason I want one is because nobody has one. When the whole planet gets transparent laptops I'll revert to my black and aluminum HP. The LED lit logo turns heads the way a lonely transparent laptop does. The only reason I want this laptop is for the same reason I want a golden Rolex over a plastic Swatch. Hint: not to tell time.
Try to spell 'fibre' correctly, you cretin.
As an aside, you might like to consider vetting your thoughts for stupidity before committing them to the internet. Just a little tip for you.
mmm, cookies...
delicious delicacies......
i will pay any amount of money for that exact laptop. i want a transparent laptop so bad! apple has been know to do that too with prototypes
I WANT ONE!
Its like the laptop used in Hackers.
First thing I thought of was Hackers, but those were like 10 times fatter.
Hack the planet!
RISC is good
I wonder if this one plays a video of Mr. The Plague on its first boot.
"I'd get on the internet, send out a major distress signal."
"You wanted to know who I am... Zero Cool?...."
HEY! Remember the 80's?
Do I ! Looking forward to calling you on my roto-dial transparent phone. Page me!
I so wanted the clear laptop in Hackers, even if it was a mac, and even though I have no job right now I am jonesing for this clear laptop, I love it when I can see the internals of my hardwear.
"Wow, Burn's wetwear matches her software!"
Great so now i can really see how over priced it is....
who the hell eats ham and cookies??
pic related?
Are you sure those are cookies and not crackers with raisins?
I do. Want some? I also roll ham with froot-loops.
who eats raisin crackers with ham?? better yet, who eats raisin crackers?
Who eats transparent laptops?
I should imagine transparent plastics are mostly too brittle to make a serviceable laptop but I may be wrong
Yes, you are.
NOW it's worth it!
Looks like an unfinished prototype in transparent.
EXCELLENT.. too bad I can't buy one like that
Battery cells under the handrest? That's interesting, but not interesting enough to be the only thing you can see when the laptop is set up on a desk.
Being able to keep an eye on the batteries might help you spot warning signs before they explode though.
OMG LMAO! It's like the clear phone that I always wanted as a kid!
Damn right my fan is bigger than yours and if you want it il have to charge.
What kind of a sick person eats a cookie AND potato chips with a fork?
someone special at a sony press event in china
Sea urchins or urchins are small, spiny, globular animals that compose part of class Echinoidea. They are found in oceans all over the world eating cookies and potato chips with forks.
I would not like to see my Vaio going naked like this for everyone to see !
However, I'm certain that ACSTA agents would be pleased to search my luggage !
OH la la !!!! Is that Ms. October from PlayLaptop?????
At least with this, my special stains will be well hidden.
i miss my old gameboy color
Interesting? - Yes
Worth it? - No
Wow.. too bad there is practically no way to RF shield that thing! I don't imagine that thing is FCC approved. Just a "for show" model. If it was properly shielded, all you would see inside the plastic would be shiny metal boxes.
Sony, you little japanese basterds, you got me again. I need something to replace my TZ and seethrough lappy will be really next step in design. Especially in my faculty where almost everybody is a nerd. But with this poor specs - i dont think so.
Is it a working model
