MSI's 14-inch X-Slim X400 now shipping in the US of A
It's a little tough to believe that it took MSI this many months to bring its X-Slim X400 from the trade show floor to the digital market place, but at long last, the outfit's 14-inch slimster is finally on sale here in the States. For those badly in need of a refresher, $799.99 gets you a 1.3GHz SU2700 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, WXGA panel, GMA 4500MHD GPU, WiFi, 4-cell battery, HDMI / VGA ports, a pair of USB sockets, a multicard reader, external DVD burner and a three-year warranty. As expected, Vista comes loaded on, though we suspect an upgrade voucher to Windows 7 will be bundled in for good measure.[Via Laptoping]

Msi seems to have some great looking laptops but I think the performance is below the price level. Id rather see 4 gigs a ram and atleast a 2ghz core 2 duo.
The point of the SU2700 is lower power consumption while beating the performance of the Atom. If they shoved a full-sized 2ghz Core 2 Duo in there, it would no longer fulfill its purpose as an ultra-slim, power-saving laptop. The price is definitely above the performance level, but at 3 digits it still destroys the Macbook Air.

Ha ha, epic fail!
@ Hgaara, repeat after me.. "fail"
**** I hate how engadget makes it seem as if there are no comments first
Yeaaaah, Engagdet wants to purposely sabotage your "first-ing". Look, how about if you just don't do it? It's really not an accomplishment at all.
For the same price you can get the Asus UL80(?) 14in device with a CULV Core 2 Duo and a nvidia 210 gpu, while still being fairly light like this device.
Nice price, but I don't like the specs except for the 13.3" screen. I saw the 15" model here last week and the specs are slightly meatier though slightly more expensive. I think a CULV Core 2 Duo, 4 GB of RAM, 320 GB hard drive, Mobility Radeon HD 4330, 6 cell battery, HDMI, 2x USB, eSATA, VGA, and a card reader is fair enough for 45K Php (roughly $850). I also saw the Atom model. 13.3", 2 GB RAM, Intel 4500MHD, 250 GB, card reader, VGA, no HDMI and eSATA but there are 3 USB ports. I think it's fair for 25K Php (roughly $450). It really does look like a MacBook Air knock-off though since it's 13.3". Just get the Apple sticker that comes with an iPod and paste it over the 'MSI' logo on the laptop's lid.
$800 For a Netbook? PASS...
I don't care how slim it is, you could have at least thrown ion hardware in it, intel graphics suck, not to mention throw in an under powered Cpu and you've got yourself what's essentially an expensive netbook there.
