Acer debuts stylish, multitouch-enabled Aspire Z5610 all-in-one PC

We had heard that Acer had some touch-enabled Windows 7 devices in the works, and it looks like the company is now finally starting to deliver on that promise, and then some, with its new Aspire Z5610 all-in-one PC. Boasting a 24-inch HD touchscreen with full multitouch support, this one rounds things out with some decent if unremarkable specs, including a Pentium Dual Core E5300 processor, ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570 graphics, 4GB of RAM, and a 320GB hard drive, among other standard fare. It's the design of the desktop that's sure to turn the most heads, however, and while Acer's claim of it being a "timeless piece" might be a bit of a stretch, there are certainly plenty of touches that are a cut above the rest -- we're especially curious to see how the illuminated strip between the LCD and soundbar works (it's designed to light up the keyboard in the dark). Best of all, this one packs an MSRP of just $899, and should be available sometime this holiday season.

Looks fantastic but I wish they through in an i5.. That would of been an instant sell.
*threw* not through. damn thoughts
Uh, OK, but WTF is "would of" supposed to mean?
I'm pretty certainly of he meant to said, "That would has been a instant selling."
I hate how a company like acer makes a new all in one, which is a Great product like the whole all in one concept, but why stick with a traditional keyboard and mouse, they look so old and cheap, two thumbs for the pc, but a "try again" for the keyboard and mouse.
I kind of agree with that. The keyboard and mouse probably only look really bad because they don't fit the look of the computer itself. They made a nice computer, and they should have also made a nice keyboard and mouse to match. The keyboard and mouse look way too curvy for the look of the PC. You could always buy your own, I guess.
Agreed. The HP Touchsmart and iMac remain the best-designed in the category (in my opinion).
The original Apple aluminum keyboard, maybe. But aren't the iMacs now coming with the idiotic small keyboard, the one with no real Delete key?
i want to say second but then again...
epic fail....
The form factor and the design looks nice!
Suggestions to make it better:
(1) Better CPU
(2) Maybe a more stylish keyboard and mouse to go with the nice machine.
They really should make an all-in-one with the new mobile i7. I'd buy that.
And the difference between "form factor" and "design" is what?
Form Factor: The Specific configuration Choice for a system - i.e. Desktop, Laptop, Netbook, etc
Design: The aesthetic and functional manner in which that form factor is implemented.
There you go.
Yeah what's up with Pentium dual core, even though its performance is very close to a C2D it generates more heat, which is something you'd want to minimize in an AIO PC.
I'm liking the platinum, but not the Pentium chip.
It won;t be long now before Apple releases their ultra-thin Imac line with touch screen and RULES THE WORLD *strokes invisible super sexy evil kitten-also their is lighting in the background and you choice of evil music* (while supplies last)
I just spent an hour surfing the web... boy are my arms tired!
Manwhore!
ew, TMI :/
we don't need to know about your browsing activities.
@Michael
seriously dude...just no
Good lord people....
You know darn well I was referring to the fact that you'd have to hold your arms above your desk to use a touchscreen monitor...
Get your minds out of the gutter....
sorry. we're just another bunch of immature perverted humans. but come on.. how would u not expect this to happen.
The guy makes a valid point, though. The idea that someone is going to sit there and wave his arms around in front of him all day to use the computer is moronic.
People just don't learn. Look at the failure of "pen computing": The simple fact is that a physical keyboard is the fastest and most accurate way to get text into a computer. And yet already again we have people calling for a tablet computer.
No one is expecting you to use the PC in touchscreen mode when you're sitting at a table with the mouse and keyboard... the whole point is that you CAN use it as a touch screen PC when you want... just grab the monitor and get more comfortable with it. No need for flailing arms people, think before you act.
Is this the Pentium Dual core from the intel CULV? If so that a decent cpu, but they could have at least gone with the intel SL cpu, if they wanted to go low power.
No, this is a desktop Wolfdale proc. Basically like an older core 2 duo, but more efficient
Wow. They really wanna be No. 1 eh?
The thing about all these touchscreen all-in-one computers is it may sound like a great idea to have a touchscreen (especially multi-touch), but in reality, the angle of the screen makes it so awkward to use. My friend has one of those HP desktops that came out like 2 years ago, the rest of the machine is great but the touchscreen is just unusable for anything more than a few clicks.
wow I see that everyone is so hot about touch screens, wow, Windows 7 really knows what people want!
Especially if they want major usability regressions and a defective UI!
Anyone Knows if the HD is 5.400 or 7.200rpm?
no HDMI? deal breaker!
dual-core (decent processor), not C2D => heat
keyboard - not impressive (still OK)
no HDMI (at least what i see in the details at the given link )
HDD 5400 or 7200 rpm?
touchscreen - virtually no use
buy this one or upcoming imac?
This is a carbon copy of HP's Touchsmart, and the design looks old 90s to me.
This is meant to be an appliance. A kitchen computer to check email, browse, recipes, youtube, or a jukebox to select tunes, or play mame arcade. As such, it should not have HDMI.
Just bought one. Mines got 1 tb storage, rocks much better than crappy imac (i have on now dead after 18 months), touch very cool. You can still use a keyboard if you want to!
I hate Acer. This model is a carbon copy of HP's touch smart's foot print- inside out, and Acer's pockerfaced sister, Gateway Inc won't refund your money if you bought this system and it breaks down in two days.
