People doubted manufactures would take Android serious.... They mocked the pastry names for the updates.... but... ladies and gentlemen... Android is here to stay !! Long live Android from Cupcake to Ztrawbetty-short-cake (sorry could not think of a pastry with Z :S )

whats key for newer ui's, is not to give the ilosers ammo, ive used the androind interface and it is pretty simple and useable (unlike winmo); the key is not to mimick or expand on on what iphone doesnt have, but to be their own person. android doesnt really have too much press, at least as much as iphone. focus on more than word of mouth, us techy nerds know a good ui, when we see it, but most phones are for the GENERAL POPULUS, we know what to look for but the general population is dumb, most people just want a phone that works! google hasnt dropped the ball on individuality, it is impairative to continue on that notion. to be more sucessful than ones competiton offer something they dont have/refuse to do, this is googles mantra, and if they stick to it, they'll win big

just to let you know android is an open source project STARTED by google not maintain by them. if google was to go into flames tommrow android would still be around. google helps android by pitching it to manufactures and making apps (gmail,market) to enhance the android experience.

Android=Marketing gimmick to raise Google's stock price(it has), gives you 16 to 24 year olds a new toy cause god knows at those ages you're the sheep, the suckers and the saps. And not to forget it gives the advertisers more big brother access into your websurfing habits.

I'm 27 and want one. I am no sheep, but you didn't state what you use. If you think all smart phones are a gimmick or are you an iPhone fan? Or do you use a BlackBerry like the corporate sheep who are suckers and saps to their jobs.

Hell, I'm 49 and I love my G1 with Android, I had 2 but my 39 year old wife took my other one. I can't wait for my next phone, my 14 year old son, who has an Ipod Touch, likes my G1 and wants one...he likes the open source aspect.

Uhm... having seen that nifty Android Motorola the other day... is it correct that there is no iSync plugin for Android devices? So I would *have* to push everything over Google? Not a flame, genuine interest. As, if it's so, I can quit following Android news. Total dealbreaker.

Umm Apple but you are missing the point.
Google is not in the business of making cell phone hardware. They want to own the portal which will run on cell phones, table PCs whatever mobile device is around the corner. Why waste the capital developing hardware when all you want to do it provide an outlet for advertising.
Android doesn't manufacture cell phones smart guy. I mean we all know you are just an Apple snob but at least get the argument right.
It should be
1. Who makes a better cell phone: Apple or HTC, Motorola, Sony, ASUS, anyone making an android device...etc etc. You get it?
or it could be

i dont understand where you guys are coming from? ...HOW is making a OS for 823748923472784 million different phones good. everyday i hear about a new android, and even more so every manufacturer makes there own build that cant even be updated to the new OS version, THATS CRAZY, WTF! i look forward to buying an android but NEVER one with a custom manufacturer build (HTC, MOTO) i fear android is going to become the next winmo AND THAT ISN'T A GOOD THING!
