iiView A2 borrows Apple's panache for a Win 7 netbook

Manufacturers the world over have given this one some serious thought, and they've decided that you want something that feels like a MacBook Air, looks (vaguely) like a MacBook Air, and doesn't run OS X. Available come October 22, the iiView A2 features an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz CPU, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 320GB HDD, a 12.1-inch display, and 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless. Shipping for $399 with Windows 7, this guy will look right at home next to your award-winning collection of Air KIRFs -- and won't break the bank in the process. Hit that read link for more info.

That's actually not a bad deal for a netbook.
yeah man kirf or not this is a good buy and looks nice too, for a fraction of the price of mac air.
Pretty sure we asked for more than one USB port
it has two, but then again youre not expected to connect more then two cuz this is a LITE Net-book lets not forget.
Your panache is showing.

Which means you can actually watch HD (720p) movies on this thing. HDMI, too. Not bad.
Huh, it says "Video output with HDMI to VGA Adapter" I was under the impression that you can't use a simple cable for this because VGA is analog signal and HDMI is digital. It can work with DVI because dvi carries both digital and analog signals, but this seems fishy to me. Correct me if I'm wrong?
Not on an Atom you can't ;)
hdmi dvi
dvi carries both analog and digital
and thus dvi --> vga
therefore, hdmi --> vga :)
If that was a Samsung or a Lenovo, I might pull the trigger.
Unfortunately, I never heard of that company.
The website has so many red flags I felt like I was playing Minefield. Paypal payment, lack of toll-free number, you click on the description and it takes you right to the Paypal purchase page, specs seem out of line for price with Windows 7, etc.
What an excellent value netbook. I was looking to buy one and this is the only with a 320GB HDD, 2gb of RAM AND Windows 7 for anywhere NEAR $400.
it almost seems too good to be true. the specs seem all fine and dandy and it looks attractive enough. the only real question is build quality. if its as solid as an EeePC then this is a real winner.
How about a CULV for $415.

While it doesn't ship with Win7, you do get a free voucher for the OS upgrade, no shipping or handling either. Also while the HD is 250GB and not 320, the CULV and faster graphics (GMA4500 vs GMA500) more than make up ir and the $15 difference in price.
both GPUs are garbage. the Core 2 Solo is nice but now that i think about it i would avoid both and just wait for something with an ION in it.
And when ION finally arrives, you will want to wait for the new dual core atom. LOL.
there already is dualcore Atom. i have a Atom 330 in a mini-ITX HTPC. it just sucks too much power for it to be usable in a netbook. the next netbook i buy will be based on AMDs new platform. until then i will stick with my 1008HA
Do you guys mean "Manufacturers over the world..."
Actually, no. The expression 'the world over' is correct and is actually very common.
Hmm I like it! Good price and it actually looks sleek. That is my main complaint about netbooks is so many of them look kind of janky, like no thought was put into their looks. I really hate blocky notebooks with weird hinge mechanisms and tons of strange vents all over them.
Nice resolution too. Hope the brand pulls through and this turns out solid, maybe it will be my next purchase or at least inspire other companies to make less ugly netbooks.
ripoff! i smell lawsiut..!
Yea, Asus is going to be pissed when they see this thing.
^^ +1
Full retail on the Dell with the exact same specs, but a slower 1.3ghz Atom instead, comes out to $430.
Isn't the Dell 11z a better idea than this just based on Dell being a known company?
hey,has someone has being hit by a apple brick ?
ask that to ballmer in the interview, nest week.
"break the bank in the process" i dont think soooo.....the sales number speak for themselves,
3 hour battery life

fuck
Maybe it's because you have no control?
Their website shows a price of $489 USD ?
That's for the one signed by S. Jobs. Well, ok, Suzuki Jobs, but what's the diff?
The American sales site is http://a2netbook.com
The iiView A2 is also available in Australia in both Black(!) and White models from http://babypc.com.au/
The final release version will be pre-loaded with Windows 7 Starter editions, but it is on sale now preloaded with Windows 7 Ultimate RC and supplied with Windows Vista Ultimate license for a free upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate (only while current stocks last!).
No.
I said NO, dammit!
so why isn't this categorized as a "KIRF"? because the company isn't run by a Chinese person?
just because its slim and white doesn't mean its a knockoff MBA. its not even the same size. ever see a white EeePC 1008HA?
piss off automated spam bot
Does really everything white, black or aluminium-colored look like an MacBook to you?
How'bout Hackintosh?
No need for Win7 - but if it would be available with Linux, I'd feel more comfortable about it.
At least it does prove how cheap an air netbook might be - and the quality is not necessarily that far below the current MacBook (while it is not cheaper or faster than a used PowerBook...)
Ummm, no. Don't like the design, don't like white, don't like aluminum. Unless it's thick aluminum and has a Lian-Li badge on it.
