Motorola Droid ads invading mailboxes, too?
Because television and the internet can't be the only media feeling the touch of the Droid's marketing blitz, it looks like promotional mailers are being sent out. No new details or screenshots, but you can't get enough of Motorola / Verizon's Android device anyway, can you? A few more pics past the read link.

Can it make phone calls?
dont be ridiculous. This is a cell phone were talking about, of course there will be an app sometime in the future for that! Right now lets worry about what it was made to do.

DOESN'T chose the right network
Which network would that be, the one that constantly piggybacks on Verizon (Sprint), the one that has security issues (T-Mobile) or the one that is completely overloaded due to the iPhone (AT&T)?
@xFenixKnightx >> "My crappy Voyager texts the shizz outta your precious iphone."
That's cool... what else does it do?
Before you answer... I'm a Blackberry user. But even I can see that the iPhone does more than a Voyager "feature phone"
I left Verizon last year because of their terrible phone selection, and got a G1 on T-Mobile. And now Verizon is getting the best Android phone? :(
So you left Verizon because of phone selection to go to a network that sucks? I don't understand.
I wouldn't call this the best Android phone, just the most marketed one. Verizon wants the avg. consumer to think they're the only ones with android or at least judging by their ads, the first ones. In about a year the mobile phone industry will be so saturated by the Android OS this phone won't even matter. I'd say enjoy your G1 and wait for the htc dragon.
@ XChrisX
Is there another Android phone with better specs (e.g. a better processor than OMAP 3430) and Android 2.0?
This phone is absolutely the best Android phone to date, regardless of what you want to believe.
Someone needs to let Verizon and Motorola know this phone, when the keyboard is slid out, is looking kinda fugly.
Well if it helps...
After the VK was added in 1.5 and I downloaded HTC's Keyboard and now Better Keyboard...I never even open up my G1...
Maybe you missed the part where they mentioned this is not the absolute final design. Close to it, obviously, but let's wait to see what the final design is like.
I love how no one has said anything about "Droid" is a trademark of Lucusfilm ltd.
You know, I noticed that too. But it really didn't hit me till now, lol.
Plenty of people have in the many previous posts about the Motorola Droid... you're the last horse to cross the finish line bud.
it's in the bottom of the website
they are using it under license
Uhh yeah if you didn't notice I was shitting on my own phone. As in, my shitty Voyager can text better than the almighty iphone.
Oh my GOD! This is like some sort of horrifyingly bad toy commercial from the 90's!
For once I'm rooting for Verizon, though I'd love this device on Sprint. Most importantly, I'm happy that Android is finally getting the attention it deserves from major carriers. I like my Sprint Hero, but this Motorola really looks schnazzy. Anyway, I'm glad that the era of ugly android phones is coming to an end.
Off note: how the hell I gonna sell my Pre? No one wants it, lol.
lolz. and you wanna buy the next supposed iPhone killer? Have fun with that.
Android probably gets more support from devs but overall I'd much prefer a webos device over an Android one.
An motorola android on verizons network? Time to upgrade from my omnia
i think Verizon is so stupid with this commercial/ad! They turned down the iphone to start with (Apple offered it to verizon FIRST before AT&T)! Now they are COPYING ads all around "There's a Map for that", come on, its obvious, its a copy of the Apple's "There's an App for that!"....and "Droid Does what iDoesn't"....um, lets go back to the old days of Sega and Nintendo ads..."Genesis does what Nintendon't"...plus their service isn't that great, i mean AT&T isn't much to really brag bout either, but AT&T has far better service and coverage than Verizon. Alot of good it does to have more 3G coverage when the over all coverage can't even COMPETE with AT&T...So, when Verizon can be ORIGINAL with their ads, get better service, and can actually compete...maybe they can make these kind of ads...
i really hope your nick explains your comment.
otherwise the obvious play on the iphone's apps by verizon was clever, humorous, and stuck straight into the iphones weakest selling point, AT&T. but then you went on to conclude that AT&T has the best service and coverage then verizon and i pretty much stopped reading. kudos if you are just a jokr2k1, otherwise the spelling really needs to get fixed =/
This was going to be my next phone especially the camera in low light BUT physical keyboard, NO NO, that’s the whole point in having a big touchscreen you dont need a physical keyboard, this is a massive disappointment, come on moto delete the keyboard.
.
this phone is ugly, but android is cool, just hope its not some moto customized version.
I think there's a lot of excitement for this phone. Let's just hope the phone actually works as advertised, something that rarely happens with a "1.0" release.
That's why it's running Android 2.0.
Truly, it doesn't matter. It's meant to compete with the iPhone, not the iPod Touch.
(and before you start off with your "it can't compete" bullshit, it does. For that matter, so do dumb/featurephones. All cellphones compete against each other at one point or another).
The whole robot red eye droid thing kinda gives me the creeps. Totally dig the Android logo guy, but this serious stuff reminds me of the Matrix and the robots taking over.
Is this the new version of the "Genesis does what Nintendon't" marketing campaign? Because that's what it looks like to me.
The Voyager's unique keypad design is great for texting. I'm gonna miss it when I move over to one of Verizon's Android phones (here's hoping there will be more than one).
@ Truth
Youre a POS. Keep trolling along...You blurt Apple every chance you get. Eat shit and die. I get tired of hearing the same old bull shit from you. The market is betting on Steve to retire and when he does, ill be trolling on every Apple thread that engadget publishes.
SP
Keep feeding the troll, and he'll keep comming back.
the joke's on you, pal
@Ig:
They have that HTC on their list as well. Additionally, they mentioned the redesigned Calgary as well.
Deciphered Verizon's clock on droiddoes.com. The countdown ends at midnight Tuesday the 27th. That is assuming my translation was correct about 5 minutes ago it read 06092849. So I am guessing that was 06 days 09 hours 28 minutes and 49 seconds.
Open the pod bay doors, Hal.
"Verizon Communications Inc. posted a 30% decline in its third-quarter profit as rival AT&T Inc. and Apple Inc.'s iPhone took a bite out of its wireless growth," Roger Cheng reports for Dow Jones Newswires.
Don't worry, Verizon's LG Voyager, HTC Touch, BlackBerry Bold, Samsung Omnia, BlackBerry Storm, Moto Droid will staunch the bleeding.
