Motorola Droid's website published a bit early, with specs galore (update: video)
A 3.7-inch, 16:9 touch screen with 480 x 854 resolution. A 5 megapixel camera with 4x zoom, autofocus, and dual LED flash. A 1400 mAh Li-ion battery for up to 385 minutes of usage time and 270 hours standby. A 550MHz processor (marginally better). A pre-installed 16GB microSD card. GPS, Bluetooth, 802.11b/g WiFi, and a micro USB port. Six ounces of weight spread out over a 2.4 x 4.6 x 0.5-inch body. We know, you were wanting the Motorola Droid's price and release date, too, but that's the one detail not on this page, we're afraid.
Update: Guess Motorola realized the error of its ways, but not to fear, we've got the site and specs captured in the gallery below.
Update 2: Some kind soul inhabiting middle internet managed to snag video of the Droid in action. Check it after the break.

Meant "3430".
People were assuming this had built in fast memory like the N900's.
N900 has 32gb and a slot for micro sd.
Still, Sholes is way better than my G1.
Did anyone else notice where it says "Google Turn by Turn Instructions" So google gps???
Sounds good!
hello DigitalSick, feel free to clarify your questions. If you're asking if the new Droid will have a GPS pre-installed. That's not confirmed yet by any tech-blogs even the Motorola official page has not yet publicized that one yet.
speaking of App's, the rumored 10,000 applications -- Droid Will be having is said to have a built-in Google Wave and Native Adobe Flash player. We are still looking for the authenticity of this report.

Thank you
google turn by turn??
I captured the website in video format: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vd7SglA91A
What do we have here Mr. Brian: http://imgur.com/G2xgQ.jpg
Yes i do agree that the 550mhz is kinda weak but like everyone is saying its like comparing and intel core i7 to a core 2 duo, underclock the i7 to the core 2 duo and we all know which one is the fastest. The cortex a8 architecture is great and even the pre is underclocked. Everything that we see know is really unofficial and will just have to wait till the official annoucement is made although this is pretty damn close you can get. Maybe the 550mhz is a typo but i guess we will find out. Underclocking the processor is just for battery savings and heat dissipation, although i think putting 1gz in a phone is quite impressive with no active cooling heatsink.
did anyone else notice the Google Turn By Turn Directions listed in the included software section? intriguing...
So, what Engadget is saying is that the iPhone processor is "Marginally" faster? It's like you forgot the article by Anand that was posted on your own site.
Ridiculous.
No Ross is saying that the 550 is only slightly faster than the G1's 528 but for whatever reason he is comparing a ARM11 to the Cortex A8 with a GPU.
By that logic, my P4 at 2.8 GHz and on board graphics is faster than my Core 2 Quad(Q9550) that only clocks in at 2.83 but has a GTX 260 Core 216.
I know that. I was pointing out they were wrongly comparing it, when they had an article that clarified that. Making it seem like they're trying to downplay the CPU(and possibly GPU) that the DROID has.
There's a lot more to processors than clock speed alone. Just because the processor is 550mhz compared to the previous android phones 528mhz doesn't necessarily mean the perfomance difference will be marginal.
Do want. Hopefully tmo will get this soon.
Not a chance man, it's a CDMA phone developed by VZW and Google exclusively for VZW. I'm on T-Mobile as well and wish we had something this awesome, but I'm settling for a Motorola CLIQ.
www.Driod.com has the release date and price.
Did anyone notice the 'Google Turn-By-Turn Directions' ???
If you CAN get turn by turn..... wouldn't that mean it would be interrupted by a phone call? (guessing then you would just be stuck with the last map image streamed from the google map server until the call ends) Hmm......Unless you are GSM and can have voice and data at the same time...... Or maybe this phone could kick ass and save the route so if you get a call you could keep going? The only problem then is if you stray from the route because of a detour or something, you'd be SOL until the call ends.
If this phone can save routes like I just described, then I'll switch right away. Otherwise I'll be waiting to switch to Sprint once CDMA can do voice and data.
wait wait wait..... 6 hours of use on a charge? are you joking?
they are going to make a freaking KILLING on the extra chargers and car kits.
Just not good enough. If you're going to attack the iPhone like this you need too do better Verizon/Motorola.
WHO CARES??? IPHONE FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The new Droid phone looks fantastic, the specifications will speak for itself. But the big question here now, "Can it really overthrow iPhone?". Looking at its features, it sure has a lot of good points. I only don't like the 6hr battery charge it has to offer. The package looks sleek (as it should) but seems similar with other smartphone package.
Major user were probably "too" carried away by the advertisement Verizon and Motorola had putted up. To find more vivid details about iPhone and Motorola Droid visit Will the Motorola Droid phone killed apple iPhone?.
The truth is somewhere out there. :)
Nice resolution! 854x480 means that this thing can show FULL standard definition video (720x480 give or take a few depending on your country, etc..)
Sorry if I missed it, but does the phone have specs for RAM? I don't see it anywhere, then again its late and I might be missing it somewhere
Thanks!
The Droid looks really nice, but is Sprint missing the boat here on marketing their own killer device? The Moment too has a beautiful, large screen (although it is a little smaller than Droid's), has a processor that is much faster, QWERTY Slider...
It seems to me the only thing that Droid has over the Moment is the camera, Android 2.0 out the box, and Verizon' reputation. Sprint's 3G network is HUGE, as evidenced by the map that Verizon has hanging on their carts in the mall. Plus Sprint has done nothing but impress me since I was practically forced to join them (long story) and that secondary phone soon became my carrier of choice.
So so close but no cigar....
90% of the things on this phone is what id want but there are some fundamental flaws...
As others have stated the storage is via MicroSD, ok thats fine for media, but unless the phone is rooted and appstosd used your going to have to live with the 512mb on board :(
Wish that they had done 16/32Gb on board and then had a micro sd slot.
And why oh why no snapdragon...this phone was marketed as being everything the iphone wasnt. In order to pull that one off you cant just make something with similar specs you need to pummel it!
This is so sweet, I can't wait!
Let's sort out facts for all of technical n00bs here:
Cortex-A8 is the architecture!
OMAP 3000 series is Texas Instruments Cortex-A8 line of SoC
SoC is "System on Chip" and all TI's OMAP 3000 series SoC have PowerVR graphics core!
Qualcomm isn't licensee of Cortex-A8 architecture
Snapdragon is Qualcomm's SoC based on their own "Scorpion" architecture
One can't compare "Scorpion" and Cortex-A8 'cos they're totally different things!!
Cortex-A8 is VASTLY superior to the ARM11 - it's 3 TIMES more efficient/powerful
For lovers of big numbers for frequency: Samsung will be pushing out their Hummingbird SoC based on Cortex-A8, and working on 1GHz ;)
One should understand, that this is not a "contest" on which is the better pair of shoe. But its about "on how gadgets" can make the life of users easier in terms of global-communication.
Years from now another gadget will appear and you will realize that it's not the spec you are looking but the quality:effect ratio on your life

Thanks Engadget for the updates on this Video. I think boygeniusreport, hasn't embed that one yet.
All this droiddoes excitement... can I do bluetooth file transfers, phone as modem over bluetooth or play multiple video codecs on Android yet?
This phone would interest me if it had no physical keyboard. I know some of you guys like physical keyboards, and some don't, i am definitely a member of the latter party. I will never again buy a phone with a physical keyboard, travelling through Europe with a blackberry was nightmarish, due to not being able to enter foreign text characters. Virtual keyboards- just change the locale and you have your foreign keyboard. Small issue to some, big issue to me. Oh, i also hate Motorola products, i have had problems , build quality, and reliability issues with all moto products i've ever owned ( not just cell phones ), with the only exception being the original SLVR i had a few years back.
All that crap being said, i do really like the specs on this phone.
Uh, it has a virtual keyboard as well. You get the best of both worlds!
Love the spec; hate the design. Why does it have to be so ugly? It's really a shame.
i'm just happy they got rid of the whole "-azr" naming. i mean, this thing wouldn't half as cool if it was called something like driozr.
That's not the droid I was looking for. - Anonymous Stormtrooper.
Am I the only one disappointed at the CPU clock speed?!!
The virtual and physical keyboard will be nice.
Virtual keyboard for short messages (text messages, quick searches)
&
Physical keyboard for longer messages (e-mails, long texts, blog posts etc.)
A 1400 mAh Li-ion battery for up to 385 minutes of usage time and 270 hours standby. A 550MHz processor (marginally better). (not 600mhz to save on battery likely until the s/w improves battery life).
A pre-installed 16GB microSD card. GPS, Bluetooth, 802.11b/g WiFi, and a micro USB port -- nice.
3.7-inch -- oh... my...
A 5 megapixel camera with 4x zoom, autofocus, and dual LED flash -- oh my!
16:9 touch screen with 480 x 854 resolution -- jaw drops.
Future: Flash 10-- H*ll Yeah!
Though it's a A8, it looks like they will push Eclair out to run on G1s :)
At this point -- WHY DOESN'T T-MOBILE HAVE THIS??? G1 owners would easily switch over...!
If all mentioned is promised, this will truly be a iPhone killer for Verizon customers....
Still don't understand why so many touch-screen phones insist on sticking with slide out keyboards. That is so 2006 and I think by now everyone knows that the future is touch interactive displays. Even Windows Mobile is moving in that direction. People just need to realize that physical keyboards on touchscreen phones are redundant and un-necessary and just add to the overall bulk of the phone.
Physical Keyboards are more accurate than Virtual Keyboards.
I thought so too at one time. But after spending a little time practicing with virtual keyboards, I find that I can type much faster on them. Plus, the tiny keys that many physical keyboards have are so difficult to use that they almost render the keyboard useless.
Yea I agree Otakuon. This is 2010 we should be taking a step forward in technology not back. Outside the tech world majority of people prefer an on screen keyboard. I think its allot faster
I'd rather keep the physical keyboard and have the best of both worlds. Touch screens aren't all they are over-hyped to be, and to be honest I'm sad the HD2 won't have a physical keyboard when it gets released, that's the only thing making me think about buying the droid, rather than waiting for the HD2.
weight is 6 oz, that's crazy!!!
Wow very interesting and a huge slip-up. Can't wait for the release. Time to replace my Blackberry.
For those of you interested in chatting more about the Droid, check out: http://www.droidforums.net
My problem is do I sign up for Verizon @ $115/mo (after discounts) for 700 min premium family plan or renew with Sprint for 1500 min family EP @ $98/month...
FYI the Verizon plan doesn't even include the calling circles while the Sprint plan has the "any mobile, any time"...
I am leaning Sprint with the Hero b/c I generally buy for the plan, not the phone.
For anyone needing a better of idea of what 6 ounces feels like in the hand, count 35 sheets of plain, jamb-free copy machine paper and hold that in your hand. I consider 6oz heavy when compared to other phones...but...6oz just isn't heavy in general. Dimensionally, it's too close to the iPhone to say one is bigger than the other. It shouldn't be a problem for most people, but I wouldn't want to put them in the pocket of a pair of skinny jeans.
