Nilay, I'm sitting here, crying my eyes out. You promised the DROID sound. You promised.
I go another day without having DROID as my text message tone.
Simple solution: Rip the audio track from that youtube video that has the droid tone. Then use software (audacity for example , if you must have free...) to clip the audio to include only what you want. Then export it to your phone. Problem solved.
The DROID sound in the Youtube video leaves some of the 'artistic distortion' audible. It just wouldn't work. What we need is for someone to extract it from the DROID and then upload it.
Where Nilay fails… google search provides
Droid Sound

Miles: Droid browses better than the iPhone, aaaahhhHHHHH-- *head explodes*
Ahhh! Holy shit this podcast does kill people, RUNN!!!
nilay i cant believe that you are such a pre fanboy
Bla bla bla!
Please don't start another fanboy flame war!
***looks forward to the smart phones of Q3 and Q4 2010***
lol this is how you can identify a true geek (no offense, I am one...). I guess when you look at the year in terms of Q1-Q4 instead of Spring-Winter you have been fully assimilated.
Aye to that. I throw people all the time when I say Q1.
Oooo Ahhh..!! solve the world economic crisis by giving me ONE! :)
This podcast's episode number is the square of 13. Appropriate, since this is Halloween.
WOOO
you know what would be more awesome? if halloween would be on friday the 13th
/s
Actually it's on the 31st which is 13 backwards!!
Anyone else realize that the engadget phone number extension is 888, if you take 8+8+8 it equals 24. 24 is divisible by six 4 times. THATS 6666 (doubtlessly even more evil than the regular "666"!!!) I am freaking out right now!
>>> "...WARNING: This podcast has been known to kill people. Engadget assumes no
>>> responsibility for injury or death..."
That's it - you're getting sued for $16+ million.
Any chance of sticking a HPF on the recording before compressing? or at least a better pop shield. It's hurting my ears every time Joshua speaks.
The pop shield is your friend.
I used to download the podcast,
and listen to it, over and over all the weekend on my way to work.
now I got 2 every weekend
the old one for saturdays and sundays the new one ;-)
any chance to make engadget show in a friendly format for my android or psp ?
many thanks
Downloading now, but I gotta say, the intro this week was kind of lackluster. It's silly, but that 8-bit surprise is part of my week, and Jay-Z wasn't a very pleasant one. =)
25:40: Joshua being a big douche.
Also, you guys need to put a better pop shield on your mic.
I love the podcast, but it's hard to listen to every B and P and T. Please get pop filters for the mics.
AAAAAAAAA!
Whoo, way to give me a scare, Engadget: I thought that spider was real for sure. Now I gotta go take my blood pressure meds.
Also, the comments are pretty unanimous on the pop filter thing, so I second it.
2nd.
smash tv! ha!
I'd buy that for a dollar!
Why does it take 5 days to put a podcast online? 5 hours would be reasonable. 5 minutes would be supurb.
Hey Engadger, love the orange and black...maybe Engadget should change their colors to those
as the first reply to the podcast was that the droid sound is missing and it still is and i (maybe also other ppl) still want the DROID sound also i have to remind you guys that Nilay promised that is was gonna be uploaded to engadget or somewhere and added to the podcast post which obviously didn't happen.
i hope this can be solved quickly,
kind regards,
meaglin
Happy Princeton Parents' Day!
Josh's "google engineer voice" FTW!
Really? Android is more difficult than iPhone? I pretty much handed a MyTouch to my wife who has very limited technical experience and walked away. She does great with it and absolutely loves it.
