HP Envy 14 on the horizon?
We'll keep this short and sweet -- the same amateur sleuths who were responsible for revealing the majority of HP's fall lineup ahead of time are back again, this time indicating a forthcoming Envy 14 model. It doesn't take much genius to find this information out, mind you, as HP's Softpaq support docs just keep coming out ahead of official announcements. Two Envy 14 iterations appear to be in the works, though their specifications remain open to speculation. There still shouldn't be too much of a wait before finding out if this will be just a range filler or a distinctive advancement in its own right, so we'll leave it to you to decide whether to delay that Envy purchase for just a little while longer.

Envy is too costly.
I recently saw an "Envy" at best buy. Why are they so bland looking?
Not a bad idea, I just got a Sony CW shipped to me today and 14" is perfect for having portability and a big enough display.
Envy, Air, Adamo. Which would you pick?
VAIO X.
Sony Z
same 13.3 inch
same (?) CPU
lessor (but switchable) graphic
built-in combo
More important : Lighter
in Hong Kong in translate to HKD 3000 (or 380USD) saving
ASUS UL30Vt
- CULV processor
- switchable graphics
- ~10 hours of batt life
- around $800
how do they compare? the Envys is faster than their Macbook Pro and Studio XPS equivalents, let alone Air and Adamo
I'd buy the Air.
14 inch thats what she said
FAIL. Nowhere in the article does "14 inch" come up.
Yet another ugly Macbook clone :D
I want an 18.4-inch metal unibody laptop. I'll be in a position to buy one within the next year. Whichever comes first, Envy or MBP will probably get my $4K.
Not if it is even more expensive than Sony flagship line (AW / Z)
it's literally an ugly macbook pro clone to be specific! ;)
Innovation starts with apple! I am not mentioning performance here!
are those computer designers lost their innovation or what? couldn't someone come up with a NEW MODEL!? I can see that similarity in other gadgets such as: screens, computers, PHONES, and even cars!
Pathetic!
Yes, maybe it is an ugly design, just like the new uni body macbook pro itself! am i the only one who likes the older macbook pro design? it was professional, elegant, cool, modern and classy all at once! the best designed ever!
Ugly overpriced poorly made Mac Book copy with a bad trackpad and the usual horrible HP support.
Over the years I have had a few HP device(two iPaqs back in the day, and the HP Mini a few months back), and the 3 different times I have to call HP support they were just as good as Apple. Hell, HP support even called me back a few days later to make sure my problem was fixed. This is something I never saw Apple do when I had to use their tech support.
if they can do the 14" with a 1680x1050 resolution or higher, then I'll be first to buy one.
Something I'd love:
14" Envy, 1680x1050 res, working track pad, at a reasonable ~$1100 price.
Everything else (ie, trackpad) would be forgiveable if they shaved $600 off of the bill.
Me too, me too, me too!
The picture is mixed up. The 15inch is the one with the front air vents.
I am going to take a wild guess that the price would be $1749 for a 14 inch.
They switched the models around. The one with the larger vents in the front is the Envy 15 and the one with the smaller vents is the Envy 13. The proportions are not correct.
hate to rain on the parade, but this product will likely never see the light of day... 14.0 and 13.1 are way too close in form-factor to justify two different products within the same space. It just doesn't make sense that HP would replace a product within a quarter or two of launching... but then again, envy products haven't made any sense yet... ;-)
Spending so much on so little? Might as well get a Mac
Seeing how HP discontinued the HDX 18, I am hoping to see an 18" Envy. Although I'm not fond of the chicklet keyboard.
I'm also disappointed HP has moved away from the original Mini-note design. I think the new 311 is huge compared to previous mini 110 model. I was hoping for the powerful 311 specs inside a 110.
@lolwut, Mac's are crap, the Envy outperforms the stupid macbooks. Performance wise, it makes the macbooks look like a slow piece of crap. Does macbook come with 6gb ram? no, it only comes with 2 or 4 gb. Does the macbook come with intel i7 processor? no, it still uses the old core 2 duo. Does the macbook come with 500gb 7200rpm hard drive? no, it comes with 250gb 5400rpm hard drive. Does mac OS let you install any program you want it to? no, cuz its not like windows... it doesn't support a shitload of files that windows support.... Well, wouldn't a macbook with windows OS solve that problem? Technically no, cuz it doesn't give the full functionality of what a regular laptop pc would.... also performance wise, the macbook with a windows os is slow.... that's why you don't see any macbooks with a windows OS.
