what the hell is a WLED screen WLED is not a screen technology nor is it a resolution. OLED, LCD, TFT, and e-ink are display technologies just because you backlight a display with LEDs instead of CFLs doesnt mean dell can make up a name like WLED
WLED i'm pretty sure is White LED, or theres RGBLED
So let me get this straight, dell. You've designed an odd looking new product that the public is unsure whether or not it will even be usable, and then priced it $1,800, guaranteeing that no one will even make the effort to give it a shot?
Have fun.
Look at the freaking smart car. Tiny, expensive, not particularly efficient (a base civic beats it with 4 seats and a trunk) but they sell like hotcakes...
They don't care if lots of people buy it. Its about developing the brand. They certainly don't care if some gadget junkies think it is stupid.
Actually at first Smart Cars never sold. How they got them to sell was by giving them away and putting them in movies, unfortunately dell doesn't put much money in marketing. That is why the Adamo XPS will fail and the Smart Car has succeeded.
heres my specs: (didnt mean to comment twice srry)

that thing is going to break after a week of use, and there is going to be a lot of angry people who paid nearly 2k
Aaaaand another completely baseless statement.
They should have waited for Allendate ULV cpus or at least used SU9600 @1.6ghz.
So... a slower, less powerful, more expensive Macbook Air with integrated graphics that has questionable usability due to its weird design?
Is that about right?
I'm waiting desperately to see this thing hacked into the worlds thinnest Tablet PC.
Geez, get over it people. So you don't like it, fine, this product wasn't designed for you. It's a very slick, polished and innovative not to mention ridiculously thin design and it's not completely impractical, it just trades off some functionality for improved functionality in other areas. Plenty of style conscious people will shell out $1800 for it and be happy with it.
so now bad design is 'innovation'..?
wicked.
What is the purpose of such a thin laptop? It's only marginally thinner than the macbook air, but more expensive and underpowered.
Why is it bad design? Because it doesn't suit your particular needs for a portable computer? And why is designing a portable device to be as thin, trim and lightweight as possible not a good thing?
"What is the purpose of such a thin laptop? It's only marginally thinner than the macbook air, but more expensive and underpowered."
Umm OK, remind me what the purpose of the macbook air being so thin was? Why did they bother making it so thin? Was there any purpose to it? Apply the same answer to every other laptop manufacturer and you'll have you answer why Dell did it to.
i would be interested if the screen and keyboard were swapped with each other.
Eager customers? The same 3 people who bought original Adamo?
FAIL!
Some douche thought being different would be good. But they lost past what actually people want.
It's sorta like the Homer Simpson Car with a bubble window that he made.
I'm going to point and laugh if I see somebody using this thing.
As if anyone cares...
"Dell's slimmest laptop ever..."
*ahem* shouldn't that read "World's slimmest laptop ever", Darren?
Have there even been any laptops slimmer the 9.9mm?
I wonder how long till we see someone Mod Dell's Adamo XPS from factor to the correct positions.
I wanna see it with a 9-cell Chinese knockoff battery off EBay attached. That should be h-i-l-a-r-i-o-u-s.
Forget delivery on 22nd Dec. Or wait a minute, which 22nd Dec? 2010?
how do you use it on your lap?
It is not a laptop if you cannot put it in your lap... this design is hideous.
And if you read on about this laptop, it actually sits quite well and comfortably on one's lap. The design isn't horrible - just risky.
The design doesn't move me, but hey, maybe if I saw it in person I'd feel differently. Given the price though I'm never going to even bother looking for one.
No thanks. I like thin laptops more than the next guy, but this thing is past the point of diminishing returns. I feel some lust for that stupid Sony Vaio X laptop, but this thing doesn't move me at all...
They're not going to sell enough to pay for the advertising on this thing, let alone the development.
i believe that if i had the money, i would buy it.

i can get a macbook pro Unibody 17" at this price for the respect of beauty and higher spec
i would love to meet Dell's creative marketing team one day.. just to understand their logic in these new so called luxury devices they have come out with..
if Apple is so damn expensive people then why can't HP or Dell create a premium, high end laptop for less?
if it didnt have that crazy hinge Id read the specs
