Eking's tilting, sliding S515 UMPC gets unwrapped on video, looks like a giant Touch Pro2
Eking's S515 has been trumpeted for a small while now, but we weren't exactly eager to bite before seeing this thing in the flesh. Today, UMPC Portal has managed to procure one of these tilting, sliding handhelds, and thankfully for all of us, they've hosted up an informative unboxing video to show it off. Packing a 4.8-inch display, 1.2GHz Atom Z515 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 16GB or 32GB SSD and a full QWERTY keyboard, the device honestly looks like a giant HTC Touch Pro2 at first glance -- particularly once you prop the display up. We're also hearing that this same handheld has surfaced elsewhere as the Digicube Z8, but it's tough to say if either will be shipping stateside in the near future. Hop on past the break if you're curious to see what a Touch Pro2 would look like on 'roids.

Why is Benjamin Linus showing me a UMPC?
say heeeeey good lookin'!
As Chippy remarks over at umpcportal, with 2.5 hours of battery, it's simply not up to the current UMPC standard set by Viliv at all.
I'm still seeing Times New Roman font. -_-
looked really good until Sarig mentioned the battery life. ouch! but i still might be interested, depending on price
Its like a ds on steroids
I would buy a device this size (and have).
I have a dell mini 9, and it is very useful because it's compact size means it is easy to toss into a backpack to take with you places where lugging a full size laptop would be a pain. But it has 4.5 hrs of battery life.
I was spoiled with my Everun with 5-6 hours of battery life. 2.5 hrs means that this Eking will not be the replacement for my (broken) Everun that I was looking for.
Compact devices become less compact when you have to carry a power adapter along with you.
It looks like the resurrection of the Handheld PC, an updated Jornada 720 or MobilePro 900c.
pro :windows 7, somethat decent keyboard.
cons: crappy battery life, and $699... meh.
It looks almost exactly like my ten-year old Psion 7, which is still a wondrous machine (colour touchscreen, SSD, real leather finish) just lacking full internet integration.
This is awesome!!
Does someone remember the hp 200LX ?
It featured DOS 5.0, text editor, Lotus 123, Quicken, advanced calculator with solver, PCMCIA slot for a modem and had a full range of apps like web browser and e-mail...
Mine is 10 years old and still works nicely :-)

Hey unboxer, you should sleep more often!
You are not wrong Sir! (Although the above-head lighting didnt help to hide my 'bags.')
And what's this about Benjamin Linus @jons ?!!!
In some ways that's a testament to how well the TP2 strikes the balance between portability and usability. The s515 above is too small to type with 10 fingers, but so large that your thumbs will collapse from exhaustion due to the travel between keys.
