"If somebody marries all that hardware potential with the Stantum multitouch firmware and a more finger-friendly OS, this thing just might make the whole Apple tablet brouhaha utterly irrelevant.”
Looking at this thing’s HW and OS there is nothing Apple has to fear about bringing a tablet to market. There is absolutely nothing worthwhile about this prototype.
The HW needs to be considerably thinner than a MacBook Pro, morea long the lines of 8" to 12” with a sweet spot of 10”, not this 15”/16” monstrosity. But most importantly it needs to have a UI that is tailored for finger-based input on a large display. This does not mean WinCE, Win7, iPhone OS or Mac OS. This means a new UI *designed* for the device.
@(Unverified) Dude, it's a kitchen tablet. Looks PERFECTLY sized to me for such a use. I'd love to have my morning coffee and ex nay the news*paper for that news*tablet.
@Bender Bending Rodriguez Fair comments... just remember the post is only comparing it to the "SUPPOSED" Apple/MAC tablet... I'm with him just because they mentioned T-Mobile... TMobile sells mobile devices and this item is being discussed as a Internet appliance... ICD needs to fund making these things on there own as a Internet appliance using CE to minimize cost, charge folks $200 dollars for 720p and $300 for 1080i/p... I would definitely purchase one of these prior to buy a $100 - $150 photo frame...
HP has had plenty of time to fine-tune its finger-friendly TouchSmart software, and now, its newest model, the TouchSmart 610, ushers in a fresh design, highlighted by a hinge that allows the display to slide down and lie nearly flat.
