We've seen a
laptop cooling stand or two in our day, so we'll try not to belabor the point here: Hanwha -- which may or may not be the same conglomerate responsible for the Shin-Gung surface-to-air missile and the
Duo for Laptop -- is proud to debut the evocatively named SL-888, a portable table for your notebook. Want to sit in a chair? The legs extend to about 12-inches off the ground. Want to sit on the floor? You can do that, too -- the legs collapse. Want to rest it on your lap? Hope you have a big lap, but that too is an option. Featuring a mousepad, a cup holder (perfect for that Whiskey Sour), and a cooling fan for your notebook
du jour, all this can be yours for ¥3,980 (roughly $44). Hit the source link to order -- or get a closer look after the break.
crapgadget!
it does cool the drink too, right?
Han wha?
Hey, for $44 that's actually a great value. And not a crapgadget in the least. If you find you need a laptop cooler (as my ridiculously overheating Vaio does - unless you prefer your laptop core to run at 200F), might as well go for this and get the extra features. And you guys didn't even mention the pen holder!
I was looking for something like this for some time. No matter how good is your laptop it still gets quite warm in your lap and is not very nice plus now with this gadget you get to have your drink, mouse and a pen at the ready...
BTW, it IS the same Hanwha conglomerate that you referred to. The original link leads to the Japanese branch of the company.
this is not new... these have been coming out of China ebay for ages. I saw these exact models when searching for my own stand about 3 months ago.
This thing needs to come with a condom dispenser for all the chicks you'll pick up with it.
I don't care about the cooling aspect of it, but I think that this is a pretty decent product. I've been looking for a good pad for my MBP and this looks pretty decent.
I just bought one of these wooden folding bed trays from Bed Bath & Beyond for $15 or so: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=10179076
It's large enough to hold a 15" laptop and still have room for a (small) mouse. I use the handle to route the wires.
I just prop the back of the laptop on the lip of the tray to get the "cooling tray" effect.
Damn, I wanted it, but you said itt's classy. I'm a University of Utah student, so I'm completely classless (http://www.youtube.com/v/4pe7ZyfQ0ic?f=videos&c=ytapi-iLikeInc-iLike-1493oebb-0&d=ADDxqUtjDi238hwMveazV8lkkShGRpQ-OTq3Ph9rrGsD&app=youtube_gdata), and thus exempt from such classy things.
