Acer's Ferrari One netbook now available -- might not help you get a date

You're probably already fairly familiar with Acer's foray into speedy netbooks with the the Ferrari One -- the 11.6-incher we found to be slightly underwhelming when we got our hands on it back in September. Still, the famous branding and the red hot lid is sure to be a draw for some, and other than that, this laptop boasts an 1.2GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPU, an AMD M780G chipset, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3200 graphics, plus WiFi, Bluetooth, optional WWAN and a 6-cell battery. It'll run you about $600 to grab one up and it's available now. Full press release is after the break.

I'm w8ing till the HP Lambo (sarcasm)
@0humza0
Asus makes a Lamborghini branded laptop
@Peytral
i hope there will be a Kia branded netbook soon, it should cost around $100
@(Unverified)
And you feel like parts may just fall out of it at any time...
@Nicole
That's what she said! Wow, haven't said that in a while...
Pretty sure this isn't really a netbook.
so it's a tricked out acer timeline...
Nah, it's all about a Porsche Design laptop - I'll buy one if they make it, even if it costs 5 grand. It'll be a great match for my 911 GT3 RS, and will hopefully extend my penis by a couple of inches.
/sarcasm
@r3loaded She'll be plenty happy with an 11.6 incher!
@r3loaded Good lord, man! That's a 100% increase!
I've am personally waiting on either the Gateway Veyron or the Compaq McLaren...
Guido laptop ftw.
Cool!
It's all about the Apple Skoda
@d0mth0ma5 I lol'd.
Press Release - "...The Ferrari One comes equipped with Windows 7 Home Premium, 250GB hard drive and a built-in optical drive..."
I have it more than a month now, and I can't seem to find that optical drive. Maybe built-in means i have to unscrew it. Or am I being screwed? :D
@r1m
What's the battery life like on this thing?
@Brother Unit No 4 battery life is probably similar to the mileage you get on a ferrari.. i mean c'mon!
@Brother Unit No 4
It lasts about 3.5 - 4 hours. But I have the one with the 4400 mAh.
im waiting for the Acer Eee PC Prius Edition.. you know.. for us economical ones
Acer + Ferrari branded merchandise + meh specs + higher then typical price tag = business as usual for that relationship.
Some things never change.
@(Unverified)
Far from the truth.
The hardware on this little thing makes short work of everything in the netbook realm, apart from the ion hp mini 311 and the acer timeline 1810/1410, which still lag behind, performance wise. Considering that it costs the same, which is half the money of the previous Ferrari branded model, you can hardly say it's not a good purchase.
But all in all, a wipe of the cheesy Vroooooom! startup chime and all the Ferrari wallpaper, shortcuts and screensaver crap really can help with the getting a date part.
Maybe a couple of stickers too. Still remains a great portable, performance wise, and at 5 hours of battery life, it's a balanced enough offering between portability and power.
No, it can't play crisis, but it can do torchlight and left 4 dead, so colour me a happy owner.
@(Unverified)
Hate to break this to you but Acer and AMD are both title sponsors of the Ferrari F1 team, Acer supply Acer Ferrari laptops to the F1 team.
@fourthletter That doesn't make it look any less gimmicky.
It's the same thing with the Jeep branded mountain bikes.
It's sad when a brand license is sold for the sole purpose of hocking a netbook.
There is nothing inherently magical about the netbook, except that the price is more decent then the first Acer + Ferrari miscarriage that left them with a massive overstock.
I guess I could paint my ThinkPad red and throw on a licensed badge from a Ferrari keyring and join in this merriment of ridiculousness. :-D
Bro... is the keyboard Jager-Bomb-spill-proof?
@(Unverified) not now chief.. im in the fuckin zone!
@(Unverified)
fist pump, brah.
A Ferrari branded kaptop with the exact same OS that you can get in any old eMachines computer.
Is Ferrari the carmaker now going to put Kia engines in their cars?
Talk about a Poseur special.
Come on Ferrari. The deal with Puma was great, it makes sense. Acer? Really? A computer manufacturer? Get back to making cars.
@KillTheApex Not only that, but it's an ACER!
Honestly.. Acer? Really?
It's been in shops here for a couple of weeks. But it cost $900 here, so never move to my country :D
I just ordered one of these from Newegg.com. I don't really like the color or the Ferrari logos, but I bought it for the specs + size.
Newsgaze got the complete specifications. If they are to be believed its a good buy. http://www.newsgaze.com/news/acer-launches-ferrari-one-fo200-1799-notebook-in-us/
This one's already out in the Philippines.
