Intel Core i3, mobile Core i5 processors coming January 7

Intel's Arrandale chips haven't been the best-kept secret around, and today Chipzilla made 'em official: the Core i3 and mobile Core i5 will launch on January 7, and we'd guess a bunch of new machines come along for the ride. Although the desktop Lynnfield Core i5 is a quad-core, both the new Core i3 and mobile Core i5 are dual-core -- and in a first for Intel, both of the new chips have an integrated GPU core that's being branded "Intel HD Graphics." The new GPU is supposedly good enough for "high-end" HTPC use, but manufacturers can add switchable discrete GPUs, so don't fret too much. Both Arrandale chips have Intel's latest hyperthreading tech, and the mobile i5 also has the Turbo Boost core-overclocking feature found in the desktop i5 and i7, which redirects power to a single core to boost performance when needed.
We got to see a few Core i3 and i5 laptops and desktops in action at Intel's pre-CES briefing today, although we didn't get to run any tests. The mobile Core i5 systems on display were doing a fine job running Call of Duty 4, while the scaled-down Core i3 rigs were playing Blu-ray movies and World of Warcraft -- not a bad demo, but we'll let you know when we see some real numbers.

Yes, the Core i3 IS Clarkdale.

Oh ok. I thought Clarkdale was the desktop 32nm chip and Arrandale was the 32nm mobile chip. I guess I need to review the intel roadmap again :-)

Ok, ignore my last comment. As I read the post again I realize that I misunderstood it.
Intel really likes releasing things on 17s lately: November 17 last year core i7 came out. Today on December 17 they make this announcement. And these chips will come out on 1/7. I like it!
Can someone tell me when does Sony usually start selling the their New model VAIO laptops?
if it's in January I'm going to skip Christmas and buy My nieces laptop then because I don't want to buy one now just to watch the new ones come out a month later with these new chips.

Can anyone tell me if this will support hardware virtualizatiion so I can run XP mode.
Currently, Staples, Office depot, and officemax don't sell a laptop with an intel CPU that supports virtualization. Thus, they don't support XP mode in windows 7. Best Buy sells 5 intel laptops that support it, Fry's sells 9 most of them are the i7 series ones.
The Celeron series, T6600, T5870, T4300 and P7450,P7350 don't support hardware virtualization. Oddly enough, those are the CPU's that account for over 85 percent of Intel's shelf space at retail.
Oddly enough, almost all the AMD laptops however, do support hardware virtualization and the XP mode that goes with it. Apparently, AMD started doing this about two years ago. I'm still looking, but currently its looking like my next laptop will be an AMD. I'm thinking of getting a M600 for this reason.
I want a new MAC with an i3 or i5 chip + 5770 mobile graphics ....
Arhhhh...not again. Tired of playing the waiting game and have as of yesterday ordered a Dell Studio i7-720qm lappie.
Can anyone tell me whether it's going to be possible to upgrade the 45nm i7 processor in the laptop to the 32nm i7's or even the i5's later next year when the prices drop? I think the socket is the same, but not sure whether the graphics card could be an issue or anything else.

Well I see here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834146613) an i7 core laptop.. for under $1000. Now I now newegg is good for it, but what say you?
