Fujitsu MH380 netbook features Pine Trail, secondary scrolling trackpad
Looks like we're going to see a steady trickle of Pine Trail Atom N450-based netbooks before the dam bursts wide at CES 2010, and next up today is Fujitsu, which just officially announced the MH380 that hit the FCC last month. Basic specs are slightly better than usual, with 2GB of RAM, a 250GB drive, built-in Bluetooth and a standard six-cell battery under a 10.1-inch 1366x768 screen, but we're most intrigued by that little divot next to the trackpad, which functions as a scroll wheel. We'll definitely have to check that out in person when we get to Vegas -- hopefully Fujitsu will have some pricing and availability details for us then as well.

Interesting...
Also doubles as a boiled egg holder and a paint-mixing cup.
Thanks, Fujitsu!
@CRA1G
Other than your reasons, I am seriously wondering what the hell that dimple is for. I mean it's a great place to put your pickled egg while surfing for porn at 3am, but the lack of a beer holders has me a bit miffed.
@CRA1G : cocaine holder.
@CRA1G Fujitsu is known for making good kit. Pricey, but good. The prices in your story sound good (much better than Sony) but I would like to read some reviews on these models.

Pine-sol - the new money waster. (nice netbook tho)
Nice looking netbook there. I would buy that.
Why not just forget the dimple and fill the whole space with a multi-touch pad.
@fourthletter maybe because there is not enough space for gestures or simply because multi-touch touch pads are more expensive
@Dking7
My dad has a Asus 1000HE netbook... and it has multi-touch. 2 finger scrolling works great on the tiny pad.
But, I find it silly to have a secondary touch thingy away from the main touchpad... are you gonna use your pinky?
I'd say... shift the money it took to add a 2nd touchpad into putting a proper multi-touch pad in there in the first place.
@Dking7
most asus netbooks come with multi touch track pads
my asus eeepc 901 one of the earlier netbooks, had multi touch and thats a small 9inch laptop, so there no reason for this not having it unless fujisu are keeping cost down.
If this thing follows netbook - suit and is around the 400 mark, its AWESOME.
I like the resolution - it allows for 720p as opposed to the typical 1280 x 600.
@qrius
didn't see lot 1280*600 though
mine is 1280*800 and 1024*600
@reyeszjj thx for the correction. got 'em mixed up
Ohhh...finally a decent 10 inch 1366x768 resolution. It looks kinda...interesting. I'm hoping that Samsung just refreshes their NC10 with Pine Trail and 768 res and it'd be the perfect netbook!
8hr battery life and under 400 and i'll get it
@reyeszjj
I'll only buy that netbook with its slower technology compared to what's currently available (Z550 Atom + US15W SCH = 5 W TDP) if it was $200 or less.
You know Fujitsu, the likes of Apple and Sony, doesn't make inexpensive machines...But from the design, form factor, and functionality dept nothing comes to close to Fujitsu U820 (or U series). They're just way ahead of their times at launch time. Now, is the right time for the reincarnation of the U900?!... with the Win7, pinetrail, nvidia ion in the horizon. Fujitsu, here I come!
@pedpalina
is u series get the best screen of all fujitsu computer?
u series is just an exception, along with the P16xx, which delivers the laptop performance in a netbook form factor
so i think it's possible for MH380 to get a price tag not too far away from other similar configured netbooks
Paint it black.
*LOVE* the color and just think, with a few brass doodads, some screw heads glued unceremoniously around the corners and a little gold flourish, you're on your way to a decent looking brown netop with brass plates, screw heads and flourish!
that's pretty - in a williams sonoma copper pan set kind of way. nice
Is the screen behind that mirror?
If this has decent battery life, I'm all over it
If only atom D510 had ION2 support, but let Intel screw that up for us!
nothing wrong with current scrollers on my laptop - edge scrolling or two finger scrolling works, i don't have to sacrifice touchpad space to go up and down on lolcats.
