DirecTV 3D broadcasts coming in early 2010?
Finding itself with a wealth of a additional bandwidth thanks to a new satellite going up today, DirecTV may have already decided its first big addition will be 3D. Citing the always popular unnamed sources, HD Guru says we should prepare for a CES announcement that the bird will be up and running by March beaming down a collection of movies, sports and TV shows in 3D HD, requiring only a firmware upgrade on existing set-top boxes to tune into the new stations. UK satellite provider Sky has already tipped its hand about 2010 3D plans, with a newly freshened HDMI spec expected to ease things along and nearly every manufacturer either already producing compatible displays or planning to announce them in less than a week there's very little doubt remaining about whether broadcast 3D is coming home this year, only how and when.

Can we have a vote for this ?
1.Are you ready for 3d
2.Do you want 3d
3.Do you care about 3d
4.Would you rather have 1080pHD be complete TV to take advantage of your new equipment
5.Would you buy 3D equipment knowing the roll out of HD is not complete
And whose fault is it anyway that we're all a bunch of consumer whores and if we don't have the latest and greatest, we feel inadequate and worthless. Your 3-year old 60hz LCD screen is going to work just fine... (just like you knew it would), and it won't support 3d (it wasn't a surprise when you bought it, and it shouldn't be a surprise now). You're NOT a victim of some plot, nobody is making you buy the latest. Just like noone is making you buy gas to drive your car, you can get a bicycle and lose that fat and get to work at the same time, but nobody wants to do that. YOU ARE MAKING THAT DECISION.
NOBODY IS ACTUALLY MAKING YOU UPGRADE TO 3D. In fact you can still watch everything on a plain tube if you want.
The whining about not all channels being 1080 is dumb. Some channels don't need to be in 1080. There's still a lot of non-HD material that won't benefit from 1080 transmission.. Just as there's a lot of material there that's NOT 3d, and it's not, as if, everything is going to be converted to 3d in one night.
But most importantly. If you don't want it => don't get it. This will not affect you AT ALL!!! Because all you're doing is infringing on someone freedom by argueing against other people's ability to spend their money how they want to, because you're getting old and cranky.

No just to pay for it. DirectTV is raising it's prices to cover the expansion of its new sat.
All TV looks 1,000,000x better in 1080p than those in 480 and all TV shows benefit from being produced in it. My favorite now being "Wheel Of Fortune".
