Uh oh, looks like
HP has confused its product release order of operations. Without even a hint of an official announcement, the HP 210 netbook has appeared in two quadrants of the internet: retail and troubleshooting. The former is eCost, which claims the 10.1-inch matte black portable is in stock for $390 and touts a 1.66GHz Intel Atom
N450 (yep, that's
Pine Trail), integrated graphics, 1GB RAM, 250GB HDD, and a 6-cell battery. As for the latter, we need look no further than HP's own support pages -- similar to what happened with the
Mini 311 back in September. So will we get an eye-full before
CES or will we have to wait for the big show? After?
Are you kidding me with the mouse buttons... still right and left of the mouse pad???? or am i seeing things...
@WhatGeeksDotCom Yeah, you are. Take a close look at the bottom-middle of the touchpad. There's a small line acting as a median between the right and left click buttons.

If you look at the touchpad of the 210 in that picture, you'll see what I mean.
@N900 Yup; it looks to me that they used the envy's like touchpad?
@Mayo The new netbooks also include 1GB of RAM, a 160 or 250GB hard drive with Windows 7 Starter Edition pre-installed, a 3-cell or 6-cell battery. With a tag of 320USD - Is it worth it? http://bit.ly/hp-mini-210-factor
Hope HP updates the 311 with the next-gen Ion and a similar edge-to-edge screen like this 210.
@Ayepecks If that is edge to edge then I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you...
@iofthestorm http://www.liliputing.com/2009/12/hp-mini-210-details-keep-on-coming-leaking.html
It's edge-to-edge. No bezel. Or did you honestly think I meant the screen itself literally went from one edge to the other? If you didn't mean that (and I don't see why you would, since no laptop does that, and edge-to-edge in the laptop world has pretty much always meant lack of bezel...), then where's the bridge and how much does it cost?
The power switch appears to be on the side of the unit. That's an odd place that is just asking to be hit on accident.
@(Unverified) My HP DV2Z has a slide power switch on the side and I haven't had any accidental boot ups or shutdowns. One thing to note is that the switch is not functional when the lid is closed on the laptop, which keeps it from turning itself on in my laptop bag during transport.
no thanks, I'll wait for the pinetrail netbook with 12" and ION
@JeremyBenthem
I second that motion
Whats with all these 1GB machines now that the imposed limit is 2GB with Windows 7 Starter?
@(Unverified) Plus, since the W7 Starter version doesn't come in 64bit it's like a 2nd kick in the nuts.
@(Unverified) - Why would you need 64bit on a netbook? They usually only hold a single 2GB DDR2 stick.
HP mini 210s looks like a nice set of netbook I've seen. With a powerful pinetrail platform I guess this gadget will sweep many gadget lovers off their feet. However, I'm a little baffled on this announcement, is this a pure mistake or just another advertisement tactic? Hmmm. http://bit.ly/HP-210-first-look
Note to Ross/Engadget: Your wily banter loses its lustre when announcing the 1000000th identical netbook to hit the market. Thank you.
@Drewby Like the 1000000th identical phone to hit the market. I don't know why the phone bs isn't limited to the mobile section instead of having to read about them all day on the main page.
Wish all these new devices would come with USB 3.0 as standard, otherwise, they all just seem obsolete. Though, the life-span of a nebook wouldn't be that long anyway.
The roll-out from USB1 to USB2 devices took ages.
