Meta, Engadget's top posts, 2009

Wow. Can you believe it? We made it all the way through 2009! We truly had some of the most amazing and exciting coverage ever on Engadget this past 12 months -- and we figured it's time to take a look back at the heaviest hitters from the last 365. This was a big year for us, we got a whole new look, an iPhone app (with more on the way), hired some new staff, got ourselves a show, went on late night TV, and managed to snap up some killer scoops and keep the news rolling (better than ever before, actually -- this was by far our heaviest year for traffic). So let's take a moment to reflect on what caused all the fuss in 2009, and yes, we know this list is Apple heavy. We blame you guys.

@HighestRanked
Of course. Apple polarises opinion and provokes lively discussion. Nothing wrong with that.
Sorry your match failed to strike, old son.
Damn. Zune HD didn't make the list.
@GON
I'm a bit disappointed myself, but if it didn't get enough hits, it couldn't make the list. I'm more disappointed that the PSP Go video got so much traffic.
@GON
Considering it was probably the most notable PMP of 2009, yes very very very disappointing.
Great work, Engadget crew. Looking forward to the new that 2010 has in store.
@Ryan Deen let's hope Engadget's comment system sucks less in 2010
wow great year cant wait for 2010 i hope you guys do another t shirt design contest i just got windows 7 and can see why it made it there.
Still just about 4 hours to go until midnight here in Honolulu. Just wanted to say keep the faith Engadget, and Happy New Year to everyone. :)
Ok, so when are we gonna see something using EMR spectral signature technology to identify users (it's almost as accurate as DNA from a geosynchronous orbit) and it beat's having to use such mundane vices as my credit card, food stamps or fingerprint? Any takers??
Sullivan504 perhaps???

The top 5 are Apple related...

@elizabethtowntexas we will as soon as you stop posting the same thing 4 times.
@HighestRanked
LOL! Couldn't agree more. :)
I just love Engadget. You guys do such an awesome job.
And the new (old?) font is much, much better. Happy 2010!
sorry was stuck in a geosynchronous orbit...
A direct, circular, low-inclination orbit around Earth having a period of 23 hours 56 minutes 4 seconds and a corresponding altitude of 35,784 km (22,240 miles, or 6.6 Earth radii). In such an orbit, a satellite maintains a position above Earth that has the same longitude. However, if the orbit's inclination is not exactly zero, the satellite's ground-track describes a figure eight. In most cases, the orbit is chosen to have a zero inclination, and station-keeping procedures are carried out so that the spacecraft hangs motionless with respect to a point on the planet below. In this case, the orbit is said to be a geostationary orbit.
@elizabethtowntexas
I know what geosynchronous orbit is, but how the fuck is it relevant?
Only 12K posts? We need more this year...
does this post makes me 60??? LOL
happy new years to all!
Lets have a figure for total number of comments for 2009!
fun read
ah, Zune HD? Yeah, that was huge news...
The post just proves how many trolls there are on Engadget. Every one of those top 20 save maybe 15 and 18 is a troll happy topic about how either the "iPhone is better/worse" or "Apple is God/garbage".
15 is a console war topic. I'm sure 18 has people posting "MW2 looks better on the PS3/360"
I think people aren't interested in the Zune HD, that's why it's not on the list.
I have never seen a Zune, HD or not. Never ever. Weird, huh?
Thanks for posting those statistics, its interesting to read up on how many, etc, etc. :P
HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!
I'm missing the "total number of comments"!
a 2-digit total number of reviews, what a shame!
Viva la Engadget!
Funny that the 3GS review was one of the most reviewed...I thought it was just like a 3G but with a faster processor...then I read the review...and it taught me a bunch of stuff i would have never figured out about my phone...(great example of why you guys actually go the extra distance to make things actually informative)...all in all a GREAT year for you guys. Long live the Engadget!
Well... I've never seen a Zune HD either, but the 3GS is sweet!!
And if your are wondering the relevancy of being able to identify you and everyone on the planet (up to 30 meters under the Earth's surface) so much so that it would make credit cards, food stamps and fingerprint scanning obsolete... then go ponder... why if this technology was available in 1993, why hasn't it been used in the public domain??
lol the top 5 are Apple
So glad engadget has been such a success and especially glad you guys came out with an iPhone app!
