M6 is correct. Though I have a smartphone, anything other than a quick jot is completely impractical with it. And without a keyboard that mythical tablet would be no better.
Why couldn't they use this design on the Mini 311? Its one of the reason I that kept me from buying it.
I tried this model at costco couple days ago. The unibutton trackpad was really weird. I mean hard to use. Maybe one just needs to get used to it, but it wasn't for me. It is nice to have such a large area for the trackpad movement, but pressing the mouse button is PITA.
@hp79 HP does have a bad track record with touchpads. I like the concept, but I'm not sure if the execution is right.
Hi,
@unverified
What purpose does the gap between the screen and bottom half serve?
The battery is there.
I bought a hp / Compaq mini 311c and it's a wonderful netbook. Screen quality, keyboard, trackpad, connectivity (HDMI + VGA), 5 hours of autonomy, and full accessibility to HDD and memory expansion.
One minor issue for hp: the netbook could handle 3 GB of RAM, which do not abide XP licence. So the netbook disappeared as soon as possible. It's back now with W7.
Check my review at http://sites.google.com/site/vilorei/fischertechnik/compaq-311c-netbook-user-review !
The reason there are multiple prices on this product is because there are multiple variations of this product-
210 w/ 3cell battery
210 w/broadcom HD video and 3cell battery
210 w/6cell battery
210 w/6cell battery and broadcom HD video
I CAN HAZ HACKINTOSH?
@afischer15 probably not. Afaik Pinetrail breaks hackintoshability (ugh)...
Just stopped by my local Costco- they have the same netbook out. It appears to be the HP 210 6-cell standard version- NO HD noted in the specs that I could see. Compared to the old Mini 110 which has the mouse buttons on either side of the track pad, this one has them built in to the lower portion of it, split in half. Much cleaner looking vs the 110 as well. The gap in the photo is indeed the space where the battery lies as well.
@rjflyn Just looked at HPs site to build out with same specs is $389
I picked one of these up from Costco - I'm very happy with it in the ~36 hours I've owned it, but have a couple questions. I've been putting them in the forum on myhpmini.com and hope to attract more people who own one of these by mentioning that forum here:

Yes but the real question is, will retailers offer the fucking HD monitor on the floor or will I have to resort to online purchases? I'd much rather walk in and pick one up with the outrageous Best Buy warranty (basically guarantees a free upgrade every year if you play the system right).
