ASUS announces U series Bamboo Collection laptops, gives little detail

It seems ASUS is still cutting down bamboo right and left in an effort to be eco-friendly. We don't have much to go on yet, but ASUS has just unveiled its new U Series Bamboo Collection laptops. First up in the collection is the U53. We don't have specs on this guy yet, but here's what we do know: it boasts a Core i5 CPU, discrete graphics, and USB 3.0 support. Stay tuned for some more information and hands-on shots.

Hopefully the discrete graphics is decent... Oh, and 13.3'' looks perfect. Arrandale chip + good graphics + bamboo... I'm down for it.

This looks nice. Unlike the Eee's from earlier, this looks good. I'm curious about heat, though. Having lived in a bamboo home, this thing might get hot, since bamboo can trap heat.

ive been wanting a Bamboo computer/monitor/console for a few years now. and you'd think it would be offered a little more widely with the low cost of bamboo (at a small premium) People want to be green, but there is a line that people wont be crossed by most people, $100 premium for a bamboo product is too steep. i hope its the premium is in the $30-$40. i'd pay for that.

Any word on the size of the U53? From the keypad I am guessing at least 15.6" because I have never seen ASUS put a keyboard w/num-pad on a laptop smaller then that.

If the price is right (as in the Bamboo premium is not outrageous), and it is out by Q3 at the latest, this will be my next laptop I think
