Thank god. I've had my Pre on sprint since launch day and have converted about a dozen people away from the phones they had.
The iPhone is a nice device but is really starting to show its age in the era of Android/WebOS, and anyone who is a Palm fan knows what happens when you stick to the same basic OS and format for a long time.
I'm sure Apple will come out with something to reinvigorate the iPhone fans out there but they need to do it sooner than later with WebOS, Android and (probably) Windows Mobile 7 coming to AT&T.
@Pacey in terms of mobile operating system advancements Android is behind iPhone OS and WebOS is lagging behind Android. I'm not saying they're bad, which they're not by far and of course they're all light years ahead of WinMo.
@Pacey The CEO of palm said that they planned to use web os as a platform for 10-15 years on the first engadget show. The iPhone has only been out for 2 1/2 years. How is that showing it's age yet?
I was referring to the old PalmOS and how riding an OS into the ground can take your company with it, but after rereading my sentence I can understand the confusion.
And at myself because I'm an idiot and posted too fast. If you take the visual appeal of Android and WebOS and put them up against the iPhone and its GUI, yes, to me it's starting to look dated.
LOL some of these clowns on this site are funny. How can an OS released in June of 2007 be showing it's age. Meanwhile Apple's iphone sales are increasing. Yeah so much for showing it's age.
Look, the hardware is very nice, and the software implementation is also well done, however, a black screen with a bunch of colored square boxes is something a 4 year old would come up with now. 3 years ago when the iPhone was released it was astonishingly easy to use and nothing else on the market looked or performed the way the iPhone does. Forward to 2010 and now every phone has the same capabilities in hardware and software the iPhone has (granted, not the same app store, but thats not my argument). The only real differentiation between phones comes down to the way the user interfaces with it. I would argue that most people that say that android and webOS cant compete with the iPhone have never used either android or webOS before.
So yes, I said it before and I'll say it again. Apple and the iPhone need to do something revolutionary with the way people interface with their phone again or start to loose market share. I'm not saying the iPhone is dead, Apple would have to stop manufacturing it for that to happen, but people are going to start exploring other phones and other OSs and that will eventually cut into apple/iPhone bottom line
Errrrrrrrrrrrrr no. Apple is doing just fine thank you. They release a new operating system for the iphone in March and a iphone in June. Do you want them to release a new iphone a new so called "iphone killer" comes. You guys have been complaining about the iphone since it was released saying if Apple doesn't act fast they will lose sales. They seem to be doing fine going by how their sales are increasing and they are projected to sell 36 million iphones this year. I would say it's the other companies that need catching up.
the Nook Color proved it was an undercover tablet all along, Barnes and Noble has hit back with this latest Nook as proof of its focus on one thing: reading.
