Dell introduces Inspiron 580 / 580s, Studio XPS 8100, upgraded Studio laptops
Hey, guys -- check it out! Dell's got the upgrade bug! In the latest round of hot-of-the-press releases, the vivacious range of Inspiron 580 and 580s (starts at $269) desktops are seeing a boost from new processor options, while the Studio 14, 15 and 17 can be ordered up with Intel's newfangled Mobile Core i5 and I7 CPUs; the Studio 14 will be available in North America later in the month starting at $699, while the Studio 15 gets going at $849 and the 17.3-inch daddy of the group begins at $949. Finally, the bold Studio XPS 8100 replaces the Studio XPS 8000 with a Core i5 under the hood, THX TruStudio PC sound at a starting tag of $749.

Someone want to tell Dell the new Inspiron 580s is supposed to start at $269? It's listed at $449 on their site.
@Mikecel79
Canadian Site? Everythings more expensive for Canadians
@trevorno Nope it's the US site. http://www.dell.com/home/desktops Looking for a low-end desktop and at $269 this would be perfect.
love the studio refreshes, its great to be in middle range :D
Are the no updates the to Studio XPS Notebook range like the Studio XPS 16? I'd like to see something a bit thinner and lighter with a better battery life
What has happened to the thin, sleek, cutting edge (at that time), XPS M1330 type laptops. Looks like the new stuff from them are just getting thicker, heavier and uglier. Has there been any real update/upgrade to that model?
You should have also mentioned that the Studio 17 is in every way worse than it was before.
I like Dell products (had much better luck with Dell vs HP & Lenovo). However, why does Dell insist on cramming new Intel platforms/chips into old Dell form factors ????
Hey Dell, take advantage of all the marketing efforts around the Core i platform and produce some stunning new designs that capture some press.
Seriously, Nehalem finally is pushed into mainstream notebooks (with a cutting edge 32nm process) and all Dell can manage is to stuff it into the same notebooks they produce now. Sad
Does anyone know when the Studio XPS 13 will have the Core i5 ,i7 processors made available? Would also be nice for a JBL speaker option and have its overheating issues resolved in a mini update.
Most of the Dell Laptop range is currently more powerfull than the Studio XPS 13. Go figure ??
