LG serves up 11.6-inch X300 ultraportable
LG pushed out the bulk of its releases yesterday during its CES press event, but today a straggler has popped up in the ultraportable realm. The X300 (not to be confused with Lenovo's lappie with the same name) is an 11.6-incher that measures just 17.6mm thin and features a reflective keyboard, borderless touchpad (complete with tactile feedback), a 2GHz Intel CPU, 1.3 megapixel webcam and an SSD. It even ships with a spare 2-cell battery for up to seven total hours of operation, and while we know it'll be rolled out worldwide starting next month, there's nary a mention of a price.

LG really knows how to make sexy devices.
@pina yes they do, hopefully they will price this beauty reasonably and win some marketshare!
@pina my girlfriend made a good point though, that it doesn't matter how skinny it is; nearly twelve inches is still really big.
@Ducman69 WHAT?? o_o
@pina
this is how a netbook shoulda looked like in the first place! nice, skinny, and light. i hate all the Asus look-a-like because the rear just bulges out. hope this is under $500!
@dark star
dude comon It says SSD
an ssd ( a decent one) alone would cost $500/-
this baby would coust bout $1000/- m pretty sure bout that specially as it contains a 2ghz processor, n extended battery
@aland3000 A little bit off the beat but nonetheless still good. Other specifications include a 1.3 megapixel web camera, a built in 3G modem, WiFi, and a two cell battery which is reported to give an impressive seven hours of usage.
The LG X300 comes with LG’s Smart Pack software which is designed to synchronize your smartphone to the netbook via Bluetooth, which means you can read and reply to your text message directly from the netbook. More details: http://bit.ly/lg-x300-details
AWESOME!
...Yeah no thanks im good.
2-cell battery? is it possible to get 7 hours ?
@Abrek
read: *spare* 2-cell for a total of 7 hours - the primary is probably a 4-cell that lasts 4+ hours, the 2-cell the remaining amount.
Really? A two cell battery will give you seven hours on a 2ghz Intel CPU? Color me skeptical...
@(Unverified) "2Ghz Intel CPU" is codename for "2Ghz Atom"
@(Unverified)
it doesn't say that a 2 cell battery lasts for 7 hours, it says that the 2 cell battery adds time up to 7 hours.
"It even ships with a spare 2-cell battery for up to seven total hours of operation"
What in the world is a 'reflective keyboard'?
@Tumbleweed You press the enter key and it gives a little kick.
@Tumbleweed You can look at the keyboard to see if you have anything in your teeth.

That's reflex...
ohhh it's been a long time since i've been impressed by a laptop. that's nice! i can't wait to see the price. i'll be watching this one.
Is that white or brushed aluminum?
2-Cell battery? Color me skeptical.
Very nice looking - using some sort of Atom, I guess?
Hopefully the price is OK.
Damn, Z550 and an SSD, this thing ain't gonna be cheap.
"ships with a spare 2-cell battery for up to seven total hours of operation"
That's a sexy pc laptop.
If this thing had a macbook-esque multi touch trackpad it would be perfect, I find the normal trackpads on netbooks too small
sweet,I'm buying that if the price is right.
How is this different than the Sony X series? Similar size, same processor
@GusRandall
it weights 200g more, it should be better ;)
anyway, I don't see any ports on the visible side. Where are they? and how many USB? I pray for a HDMI!
You know, as per the universal law of stereotypes, I expect more intelligence and the general ability to read from my fellow Engadget community, since the average joe doesn't really read tech blogs. ( not that I consider the average joe to be illiterate). So, exactly how many more of you are gonna "fail" to understand it's a SPARE 2-CELL battery for up to a total of seven hours, and NOT JUST A 2-CELL battery providing that seven hours of operation.

From the looks of this article, it's based on an Atom, and has some other cool features. The part where it says about being able to reply to SMS and email for your mobile looks nice!
