We've seen plenty of gaming mice with adjustable DPI and swappable weights, but the new
Cyborg Rat lineup from Mad Catz is truly stunning. The mouse is adjustable in almost every dimension and angle, thanks to certain sliding aspects, some hex key-adjustable mechanisms and buttons galore (including a very useful aiming button for slowing down the cursor in those heated sniper moments). The real winner is the Rat 9, which is wireless and has a nifty little "home base" that continuously charges a hot-swappable replacement AA battery and keeps some extra weights warm as well, though with a $130 pricetag it's not for the faint of heart.
I wish my desk can do that.
@cdf74dc9 Google search ergonomic adjustable desks. There are some out there that are almost this customizable, just doesn't look as badass.
Wait - does it actually keep the weights warm?
Here in Minnesota, I've been heating up a set of scale weights and using them as hand warmers because they stay warm so long - but I would love it if this were integrated into my mouse.
@M C Seriously?
@M C Right there with you. Minnesota is cold and my mouse hand starts slowing down. That would be awesome.
@M C Could have used a heater in my mouse the past week or so. Glad its warming up to the 20's soon.
@M C
My razer naga stays nice and warm, if you leave the LEDs on.
It is actually quite nice.
@M C
I urge you all to investigate the place known as 'canada'. its so fucking cold. we just have ever burning mice.
@(Unverified)
"...we just have ever burning mice."
Im telling PETA.
@F C
You guys seriously crack me up :D
@bolezhinkov
Except in Canada we call it a Moose, I just ordered my lumberjack edition Razer Moose, complete with plaid printing and a wood-burning stove to keep things toasty.
is it adjustable for left-handed too?
@dani3l
somehow i doubt it
@dani3l
I'm a lefty and I've learned from the get-go to use mice right handed. There's just too many times when I have to use someone else's computer setup to bother. Also, using the keyboard with my left hand during gaming stints feels more natural anyway due to the way keyboards are designed.
They look like severed robot hands.
Cyborg Rat>>>>>>>>>WarMouse
@Arkv2 No.
Did you say Mad Catz?
*moves along*
@Aguiluz
Agreed
@Peytral Mad Catz acquired Saitek so I imagine that this should be better than most of their usual products.
I'd trust it more if it were the other way around.
@Aguiluz
I'd use a laptop track pad for gaming before I went near a Mad Catz mouse. Far too many bad experiences with that company to waste the money.
I wont be carrying this around in an airplane especially around this time.
@123yik
Yep! w/ that many pieces, you just wont convince TSA that its a mouse.
Looks like something a batman would have.
Just change the R with a B!
anyone know what are the differences between the 3? rat 5,7,9? besides 9 being wireless. the mouse looks promising
Is the wheel on the left the precision adjustment?
They look those pedals you get with road bikes that hook onto those cleats that come with special biking shoes.
@Juice Looks perfect for bicycle simulators
How much does it cost for Best Buy to install it and adjust it to my hand for me? :P
Will that play Crysis since it may fall apart while your gaming hard?
at least, it looks very cool! seems heavy too
That is (and there is no other word for it) a very very intense mouse.
@NeoXY
How about:
all-consuming, energetic, exceptional, exquisite, extraordinary, extreme, fierce, great, hard, impassioned, intensified, intensive, keen, powerful, profound, protracted, sharp, strong, supreme, vehement, zealous
I'm all about simplistic design, but these fuckers look badass.
those are some sexy sexy mice...
wow! looks very nice.
i am using the old Cyborg mouse for almost two years, better than other brands that i used in 20 years.
it is a Saitek a TOP Quality European company famous with the Eclipse backlit Keyboards and Pro Flight PC gear and electronic chess devices. which was acquired by Mad catz around two years ago.
Cyborg is the PC gaming range in Saitek with the famous Sticks and Keyboards and mice.
check Saitek site
It's not truly customizable unless you can add the middle button.
doesn't look too comfortable to me
Whoa, it looks like it could be a decepticon! It must've been in Sam's house at the time. :D
unverified sources say it comes with microscopic needles that pump adrenalin into your hand when your death streak reaches 3+.
also comes in lemon.
@greentee
You know you've been reading too much Engadget when "microscopic needles" became "Microsoft needles" on my first read...
If there is a wired version of the top model (wich I think is the Rat 7) I'm going to order one. The website of Madcatz is a mess though. Does anyone know when and where you can order one?
@Thijs
Why can't they just make that one of the customizations? Have a small interchangeable module that houses either the wireless radio or the cable mount.
I really like the look of these mice, but never heard of the company before. Also, Even if the Mice are great, I hope the configuration software is also up to par. Guess time will tell.
I'll just wait for the reviews to pop-up on the web.
@Arkv2 I'm left handed but I use the mouse on the right side. In fact, almost EVERY left handed person uses the mouse on the right side. Either way, this mouse looks...interesting. Kind of like something I'd fine on Optimus Prime's desk.
Also have the old Cyborg mouse and Cyborg evo joystick which feature similar ergo adjustments. I even take my cyborg mouse to work, it just rocks.
Cyborggaming dot com
then saitek dot com
then eclipsetouch dot com
all from the same company that make these Cyborg mice range
@daftrok
I'm ambidextrous but I prefer to use the mouse with my left hand so I can use the directional pad instead of the QWESAD... keys; flight combat simulators are easier with that setup too since the num pad is accesible (although most joysticks are ambidextrous).
