We've seen plenty of gaming mice with adjustable DPI and swappable weights, but the new
Cyborg Rat lineup from Mad Catz is truly stunning. The mouse is adjustable in almost every dimension and angle, thanks to certain sliding aspects, some hex key-adjustable mechanisms and buttons galore (including a very useful aiming button for slowing down the cursor in those heated sniper moments). The real winner is the Rat 9, which is wireless and has a nifty little "home base" that continuously charges a hot-swappable replacement AA battery and keeps some extra weights warm as well, though with a $130 pricetag it's not for the faint of heart.
I've seen waves of "gaming" peripherals branded with the "Cyborg" nomenclature, that didn't really live up to the title. This thing at least looks like something a flesh/machine hybrid being would appreciate.
I want one.
When will it be available?
I for one have been waiting for something like this for years. There is not a single mouse on the market that is big enough for my hands. I get cramps in my hand trying to move my finger tips and heal of my hand closer together so they both touch the mouse. I've modded a few on my own with cardboard and duct tape and the problem goes away. But those don't last long and I really like the looks of this. I just hope it adjusts big enough for me. Now to find some gloves that I can wear... nobody seems to make XXXL gloves!
Really?? Really?????
Taking photos of a BLACK mouse with BLACK BACKGROUND!!???
REALLY?????
@Lo0ods
And using a camera phone with fingerprints on the lens!! Photo journalism at it's best!! To snarky?
Swappable batteries? sniper aiming button? (I know it's just a DPI change but still) Count me in for the $130 version! I'm used to spending $100 on good wireless mice anyway.
Wow! Those RATs "look" PHAT! Lets hope they're not just Mad Catz in cool rat's clothing. Just sayin...

Yikes! once again the dreaded engadget 20 url link for a single post strikes again. delaying the post from showing up on the 1st to 3rd refresh. Wonder if that is done on purpose to, ehem, "pad the hits books" ;^/...
That gap that is created when you expand the parts looks very uncomfortable for your hand...
It looks cool and it's definitely something new. But all those movable parts? The various knobs and such look like they'd leave some serious depressions on your hand after an hour or two of gaming...
I nominate it for most over-engineered product of CES. Do not want.
utube vid of it @ CES: /watch?v=O52oeYv37Y4
If the reviews are positive I definitely want the R.A.T 9!
I really like the idea of that button that slows down the mouse when sniping. In Team Fortress 2, which I rarely play, I have to hold a button on my deathadder and scroll to change the sensitivity, which is a pain when someone could easily come behind and kill you, since instead of quickly turning around, I am still in the slow tracking speed thus I will probably only be turned 1/4 the way while the other player begins pumping my body full of lead :)
