VIZIO's new LCDs (and upcoming iPhone remote app) eyes-on
Since we can't drool over sets without release dates forever, our attention at VIZIO's CES event turned to flat-panels we actually expect to hit shelves in 2010. Still, we couldn't have expected a sneak peek of the company's planned iPhone remote control app (video after the break,) and the shock of seeing a 22-inch VIA & WiFi packing 22-inch LCD nearly overshadowed the massive 72-inch 3D set picture above. Also represented were a new soundbar surround package with HDMI 1.4 / Audio Return Channel due in May, a video-prioritizing wireless router and powerline networking setups, and of just to round things out, some iPod dock / touchscreen clock radios.

can someone tell me what the document name is?
@MichaelB Yes, it is the Constitution, but more specifically the Preamble part. (i.e. the intro)
@MichaelB Yes, what is your point...?
it's called The GOOGLE....
@Spoony you would not know that that document is the us constitution.
i find it kinda funny that on engadget hd, it's pointed out on several polls and posts about how bad "stretch-o-vision" is for tv channels on cable/satellite/whatever, yet the video stream here is in good ol' "stretch-o-vision." that iphone looks like a foot long hot dog in the beginning, then near the end after the "bing!" it looks like a mini hot dog.
@calvin8714 Thanks for the heads up, I messed up encoding the video, a correct version should be up in a couple of minutes.
@RichardLawler
aaaah, much better! thanks!!!
WTF is VIZIO?? A cheapish brand? Never heard ot that brand in Europe ...
@djmuzi
Vizio will forever be known as the crappy Wal-Mart brand here in America. That's basically the only place you could buy their craptastic sets until recently. They are synonymous with Black Friday sales.
@protozoider
Actually vizio was only available at Sams Club for almost a year before they hit Walmart. That's where I bought my first one. Vizio is one of the driving forces in lowering the costs of LCD TVs from competing manufacturers. Sounds like ur just pissed u spent twice as much for a comparable Samsung...
@protozoider
I don't think you can make such sweeping generalizations that vizio will forever be known as a crap brand. 240/480hz, full led backlight, 3d (in its various forms) are high end features and vizio is bringing then in at absurd price points, especially in that 72 inch model. Their top 55 inch lcd from last year was at least two home theater magazine's LCD flat panel of the year. Also, they are already showing new technology demos at their booth and some fanciful products like a 2.35 ratio flat panel. It seems like they are very much on the come, following the type of path that Samsung originally followed for the US market.
my god... the iPhone is just...ugly!!!UGLY!
Why does it seem everyone is making an iPhone "app" for TVs. Seems like a gimic to me.
Vizio used to be a horrific brand, they were cheap, and everyone knew it. But because many of us could afford little else we bought in. Over the years Vizio has acted as a responsible company and instead of raising prices for better TV's they have kept their prices low while raising the quality of the product inside. Their TRUELED display alongside a Samsung LED and LG LED shows little to no difference, and the small differences in contrast and smooth motion are well worth the $3000 to $4000 less you have to shell out for a set. This new lineup continues the trend, and I have to say, if Vizio keeps this up they will have the happiest consumer base in the US.
@ maythetechbewwityou I second that. They truly are making a s for segway more affordable, top-quality tvs.
