iBuyPower Battalion Touch now available to order, starting at $999
iBuyPower announced its new Battalion Touch gaming laptop at the beginning of CES last week, but it's just now made the multitouch rig available to order, and finally revealed a price. As expected, there are a whole range of configuration options (including a $150 "Flame" add-on), but if you just want to get your hands on the first multitouch gaming laptop, you can snag a system for $999 that includes Core 2 Duo Mobile P8700 processor, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 250GB hard drive, and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 graphics. Not quite enough for you? Then hit up the link below to check out some of the other upgrade options that can fully triple the base price.

First
Oh wow! Now you can die happy. In fact, be my guest.
@psycros DONALD. Update your gadgets list. It's not 2006 anymore.
That's actually not a bad price considering. Another 2gb would be a must, though.
@psycros Agreed.
@psycros
IT's DDR3 you morons, how can you use 4 GB of it? it's 1X2 GB or 2X3 GB and if you considering of filling up 4 slots with 1GB sticks the last 2 would be wasted.
@Plexus
Yes u Can have 4GB of DDR3 Ram, DDR3 can be in dual channel or trip channel. So im guess this lap top has to ram slots
@Plexus
Excuse me "moron", but only LGA 1366 socket boards (Core i7-900 series and high-end Nehalem-based Xeons) use triple channel DDR3 RAM.
The Core 2* notebook series processors (or rather, their respective chipsets) all support dual-channel configurations.
@Plexus
I bet you feel kind of like an idiot now...if not you, should.
@Arcaria
haha grammatical errors aside.
Is there a reason why they aren't Core i5/i7's? Its the only reason I'm a peeved at the TouchSmart tm2.

I own one it rocks.
Kinda late there ibuypower, I'll pass on the multi touch
2 GB of RAM? Seriously? This is 2010, people.
My 13.3" MacBook at $200 price more has better specs than this.
@maythetechbewithyou
and as you say, its $200 price more... so it would do, as you paid more for it.
@maythetechbewithyou
Your mac book has a multi-touch screen? how bout no.
@maythetechbewithyou
I can't help but laugh at the fact that you paid $1200 for a laptop with slightly better specs and a 13.3 inch screen. But hey, there's a piece of fruit on the cover.
@maythetechbewithyou
Your 13.3" MacBook has a better video card than the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 and a 2.53 GHz processor? Where can I buy your mythological MacBook from the future? Does it have a touchscreen too? Amazing! I can't wait to get one.
@maythetechbewithyou
Umm yeah, I have the exact same laptop right here Apple MacBook, and I also own a minor variant of the laptop this article is about. (no multitouch, but otherwise identical) I own both, and what you're saying is so damn wrong it's just downright sad.
1. I keep touching this MacBook's screen, but all I'm getting is smudges.
2. Radeon HD 4650 =/= Intel GMA x3100/GeForce 9400m (depending on when you bought it)
3. 2.53 GHz Dual Core with 1066 MHz FSB =/= 2.12 GHz/2.2 GHz Dual Core with 677 MHz FSB
4. 15.6 inch 1366 x 768 Screen =/= 13.3 inch 1280 x 800 Screen
5. 4 GBs DDR2 DDR3 1066 MHz RAM =/= 1 GB DDR2 667 MHz RAM/ 2 GB DDR2 800 MHz
6. 500 GB HDD =/= 120 GB/320 GB HDD
7. 2x USB 2.0 ports and 2x USB 2.0/E-Sata ports =/= 2 underpowered USB 2.0 ports
8. VGA/HDMI =/= Apple Mini-DVI/Apple Micro DVI/DisplayPort
9.Fingerprint reader =/= no fingerprint reader (Which I am loving, btw, it only has a false negative every 20 reads or so
10. Blu-Ray =/= DVD r/w
11. Expresscard =/= no expresscard
12. sd/ms/mmc =/= no card reader
And most importantly
13. 930 dollars shipped =/= 1,200 dollars base price
Get your facts straight please.
No worries, this is just a Compal KHLB2:
http://www.compal.com/index_En.htm
It has been around for some time actually...
it def needs to 4gb, thats just a must, as for the core 2 quad...i must say i have one on my desktop..and i am most def not a fan, but then again i dont know too much about th i5 and i7 either.
Out-dated video card, laughable RAM.... horrible customer service.... what gives?
iBuyPower is one of those companies you never want to buy from. Ever. Go take a look at their BBB rating. Anyone who buys from them is basically the equivalent of playing the lottery. That's just a Clevo/Compal rebrand, the same kind you can get from either Sager or XoticPC, and both of those companies have much better ratings and infinitely superior customer service. I'm sick of you reporting on the worst gaming desktop/laptop companies around Engadget. Go do some research on GOOD companies. Ones that don't deserve to be shut down.
That's the worst company name I've ever heard. I'd be embarrassed to visit the website, let alone purchase a computer from them. "Hey what kind of laptop is that?" "Uhh, don't worry about it."
And I like that they label the webcam. In case someone stumbles out of 1995 and doesn't recognize it.
@statelypenguin you should try doing business with them. what a freakin joke. they are the reason i started to build my own computers. they have the worst business plan towards their products & customers i'v ever seen/experienced. theyeven had an F rating with BBB fo ra while. you are a true idiot if you buy a computer from them!
WOAH.
I just ordered a laptop a little while ago, and from the looks of things, this lappy uses the same barebones kit. I am sure of it. I wonder if I can just buy one of their screens and pop it in. I doubt it would be that simple and cheap, but wow.
