Toshiba updates Qosmio and Dynabook laptops with Core i3, Core i5 CPUs

Not really a shocker as far as world events are concerned, but Toshiba's announced some new Qosimo and Dynabook series laptops for Japan. First, the 18.4-inch Qosmio G models (the G65 and 97L) will boast brand new 2.4GHz Core i5 processors, GeForce GT 330M graphics, 4GB of RAM, a 500GB HDD, and Blu-ray. Up next, the 16.-inch Dynabook TX will have the 2.13GHz Core i3 CPU, 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, and Blu-ray. Both the Qosimo and Dynabook models will sport Windows 7 Home Premium, and are expected for release in August. Pricing is unavailable at this time, as are release details outside of Japan, but we'll keep our eyes peeled.

Lovely design...
*blech*
It is Qosmio, not Qosimo
I love how they persistently ballsed the spelling up, despite the correct spelling being in the picture itself.
do i3 processors have integrated graphics in the cpu? Sorry in advance if this is a n00b comment.
@Giac
Yes they do, but obviously with these models with discrete GPU's the integrated solution is not utilized.
August? Quite early for a press release then?
@Vdek
Yeh.. Aug ??? Till then we would have more models from other and this would have outdated configuration ;)
Why did they stick a GT330M in it? Terrible option (rebranding rebranding rebranding, rinse and repeat...)
(PS: Does anyone know why can't I login using Firefox? Any solution?)
@Passarinhuu What's wrong with the 330M? Is it too slow? Or you just don't like the name? The 330M is a decent enough chip with a 6.7k 3D Mark 06 score.
@Vdek
if alienware will use gt335 in an 11.6 inch...
yes it is sloW
@Tg The 335M in the Alienware notebook is most likely down clocked quite a bit since they were reporting a 6k 3dmark06 score when that chip should be capable of 7-9k.
Those Qosmio laptops sure give Alienware a run for its money when it comes to gaudy designs.
yep, it's "Qosmio" and not "Qosimo".
Hmmm mediocre name, mediocre brand and a mediocre laptop. Trust me on that.
@NeoSeer
Toshiba is by no means a mediocre brand. They make some of the most reliable laptops around.
This is only slightly related, but when are Core i5 and i3 laptops going to show up on Newegg?? I'm looking for a new computer and they're my choice but as of yet not one i5 is on there.
@Paul
Nevermind! Finally up this morning! Still only a small percentage there of those that are actually available.
What the hell is up with that stupidly small touchpad?
A wired mouse on a laptop!? May as well skip using wifi while they are at it.
I hate the red, I wish they offered this in other colors. Also, what's with these new laptops still coming out with tiny touchpads? I figured the industry would finally move towards large multi-touchpads.
Touchpad isn't as tiny as you think. Remember that's an 18.4" display so EVERYTHING else looks smaller than it is.
@beaups
That's right. People are ranting here for no reason at all. If they ever held a Qosmio in their hands then they would perhaps understand what a monster of a notebook it is.
