HP launching tablets and notebooks with integrated pico projectors this year?
The details are few at this time, but DigiTimes is reporting that Hewlett-Packard is working on busting out some pico projector support in its laptops and tablets in 2010. Currently the wee beamers haven't found much of a home in the pockets of consumers, but integrating them into these devices might just make sense. There they could serve as additional displays without adding the bulk of some of the other solutions we've seen in the past. HP's VP of Personal Computing Systems Monty Wong indicated that the projectors would be placed on top of the screens on notebooks, where a webcam would traditionally be found -- though presumably pointed the other way 'round. It remains to be seen what kind of bulk this would add to a traditional laptop lid and what kind of a cost premium, but we're at least vaguely intrigued by the idea.

I like the pic...
Good idea. You wouldn't want to do a big presentation with those projectors, but it'd be a more convenient substitute for a 10" Mimo type of monitor or second screen like the W700. Still, you won't always find a surface to project that's close enough so the image is still bright - if you're using on your laptop or in class for example, though you could bring along some kind of screen.
Sweet...does it come with a roll of duct tape?
Epic photoshop, as usual.......
@SolidSnake
I think that's MS Paint
Mindblowing fanboy render... Awesome
Bad idea. Need to position laptop separately to the projector for all manner of reasons, including access to the keyboard etc. Way better to embed the projectors in small screen devices, like phones.
The article describes "two major PC systems", "tablet PCs and notebook with integrated mini-projectors".
So I think it's meant to be parsed as "(tablet PCs) and (notebook with integrated mini-projectors)" rather than "(tablet PCs and notebook) with integrated mini-projectors".
2740p?
1080p?
@BOGRASH
720pee?
@BOGRASH
720pee ??
@Sunil 1,000,000,000i
Damn it! A tablet with a built-in projector was my prediction for CES this year, just a little ahead of the curve.
@Riles
Too far, man, too far.
Haha, imagine a 15" laptop with a pico projector that can realistically only project a ~15" picture.
If you could change focus, etc. on the projector without having to fuddle with the notebook monitor, that would be awesome. Now instead of Push2TV being bundled, you could just give us a projector screen bundle.
LOL, lets just hope the projector can outdo the screen or what is the point? On that note, these little projectors with some mind altering substances, music and some itunes visualization battery action make for a very interesting sound and light experience~
gaming and vidoe watching, thats what it'll be used for.
playing TF2 with projector beamed to a size of 60in on a wall....
awesome
@sowhatu You read my mind. I would definitely by a gaming laptop with an integrated projector.
This is just a start of soon to be feature in the future gadgets, Mobile phones, laptops, portable gadgets and many more. I personally like it.
Haha I had almost the same pic idea on my blog: http://blog.itag.com/63/todays-secret-word-is-integration/
